About Crown & Anchor

Brick-walled pub with infuser beer tap to increase the hops in their selection of interesting beers.

Now the south London outpost of the small London Village Inns chain, this stripped-back but stylish corner pub reopened in 2012, offering an en enterprising range of beers from cask, keg, bottle and can, plus at least one cider on handpump, usually from Seacider.

The pub consists of a long single bar with large windows, bare brick back wall and high ceiling.

There are plenty of tables and chairs and music played quietly in the background. Burgers and German sausages feature on the menu, with vegan alterrnatives. Cashless payment only.

Venue of Britain's first rock 'n' roll club, according to the Daily Herald archive: see http://www.scienceandsociety.co.uk/results.asp?image=10309258

Been here a few times for a Sunday roast. Nice airy pub a few mins walk from central Brixton. Does a good vegetarian roast, although disappointing they stopped doing the wellington as that was definitely better than the nut roast! Relatively good value for London although still not exactly cheap.

The Crown & Anchor 246 Brixton Road London SW9 6FA London Village Inns Ltd https://londonvillageinns.co.uk/ Big space indoors nicely laid out, next to park entrance, with ample outside accommodation. Great buzz at 6pm when we arrived, a busy engagement party and lots of people enjoying themselves, the way people should at a well run public house. Decent beer selection, too busy engage in conversation about the future of pubs and the @AllForTheLoveOfPubs podcast to take notice of the drinks menu. Kitchen looks well laid out, interestingly placed at the back of the pub with clear through…

Wonderful Sunday roast, really packed plate - you won't be hungry afterwards! The lamb was lovely but the chicken was the star. The service was first class, really warm and friendly and excellent range of beers. Make sure you book ahead, it's very popular

Great local pub in Brixton was bussing on Friday night. Awesome selection of craft beers on tap and heaps of pub favourites on the menu. I had the chicken schnitzel which was excellent, and Stacey has the nachos which she has claimed as the best pub nachos she’s ever had. Get around it!

Popped in here for a Sunday roast after walking the entire Victoria tube line with friends. It sure was well worth it. Easy to spot and get to. Great service and the food was spot on. Ordered a G&T alongside it - perfect.
