About Doggett's Coat & Badge

Pub named after 300 year-old boat race, spread over multiple floors with a terrace above the Thames.

A large, four-level Nicholson's pub at the south end of Blackfriars Bridge, situated on the South Bank halfway between Borough Market and the South Bank Centre. The ground floor bar has 10 handpumps, serving a varied selection, and the terrace overlooking the river and covered beer garden at the back provide great outside drinking. The first floor is a restaurant, and the bars on the second and third floors are available for hire. The pub's name refers to a 300 year old amateur Thames boat race originally organised by actor Thomas Doggett, with the winner awarded a waterman's coat and silver badge.

We recently hired the rooftop area for the day 2 of our wedding. The space has been recently renovated and is absolutely perfect for a party, especially if the weather is nice. They provide a BBQ for the event, we chose the premium menu and the buffet included salads and potatoes and plenty of BBQ food. All the guests were impressed with the food it was really delicious! We were able to hire the space all day and when the city lights come on the view is even more spectacular from the rooftop! We hired a singer to play at the event which the pub were happy for us to do and it was a great…

Lovely venue by the Thames for all occasions! There is plenty of indoor seating with plenty of TVs for sport, a nice beer garden to the rear, and several Thames-side tables at the front. Unfortunately, permanent QR codes to oder on the table were too worn to use. Bar service was quick, but there was confusion over bringing platter and main dishes together - even when I queried - and this ruined the meal. Food was pretty good, except the prawn sauce, which may have had too much mustard in it. The bar wasn't very clean customer-side, staff didn't seem to care which was disappointing, possibly…

Doggetts is a nice place and very busy due to London Pride. I found a nice comfortable seat and was able to order easily using the app to save having to leaving belongings unattended. Great stuff! Drinks came quickly and no problem at all. Stayed for a few drinks, and opted to get food. The food unfortunately let's the rating down. No complaints on time to bring to table. But had the steak and ale pie, where the pie itself was fine but the chips served with it were stone cold. No idea where can get salt from as the guy who served it didn't give a second to check before running off. Of the…

Nicely decorated and a great view from the upstairs area when it’s not hired out. Live music at the front by the bar, so would recommend sitting towards the back if you wanted a more audible conversation. Food was good and well presented, but a shame that the signature Steak and Ale Pie was sold out!

This is a nice pub, quite large and service was fast. The fries and the fish were excellent. I have a glass of wine as well. Nice place to hang out in the afternoon.
