About Dove
Waterside pub where Charles II and Nell Gwynne once dined, with the smallest bar room in the world.
One of London's Real Heritage Pubs, the main bar area is on a raised level with a tiny public bar at the front, the smallest area for any London bar at around 33 square feet. However, research suggests that this bar is not very ancient and was installed some time after 1911 by the then licensee who mistakenly thought his pub layout contravened the Licensing Consolidation Act of 1910 and hurriedly created the tiny snug.
The likes of Dylan Thomas, Ernest Hemingway and Alec Guinness have enjoyed a pint or two of excellent beer here; fortunately for them they were all drinking after 7th January 1928 when the bars were waist-high in water. Now, we hope, the Thames Barrier will stop another inundation! The rear conservatory has a fruit bearing vine and leads to a terrace overlooking the Thames. Well worth a visit but often crowded in summer. If you are lucky you can climb up the spiral stairs to the tiny mezzanine terrace which has two or three tables.
Classic food with a twist is served every day and the food is of restaurant-quality.

Charming historic riverside pub with a great outdoor balcony and lovely views. This is probably the best pub along this stretch of the river and there is something really special about having a pint in such an historic location. The service is friendly, there is a good selection of draft beers and the food looks good although we only came for drinks. Highly recommended.

Was super excited to go to the Dove today hadn’t been in ages. Have nothing bad to say about the service or the place that was as good as always. However £19 for this burger was pretty ridiculous and I felt pretty ripped off. It was dry, flavorless and incredibly small. Considering the price point you would expect a lot better from a pub notorious for its food. Really let down and won’t be back for food any time soon.

Very nice pub, on the riverside, with both inside and outside seating. The staff were friendly and the service was perfect. I had a Cottage Pie which was very good, looked fresh, and a nice pint.

The best fish and chips in London so far in my opinion. The portions size was very generous. The chips were crispy outside and tender inside. The fish was tender and juicy. The sauce was great and not sour at all. London Pride was very drinkable. The staff was welcoming. The atmosphere inside was nice and they have open wood fire. So in non-summer time I would even recommend tables closer to the bar than to the windows since that part is more cozy

Our visit to this pub during our London trip was truly memorable. The cozy ambiance steeped in history, coupled with delicious food and attentive staff, made our meal a delightful experience. We loved it so much that we've already made a reservation to revisit with our son before heading to Paris. Can't wait!
