About Flask

Relaxed gastropub hung with old prints and designer wallpaper, plus skylit conservatory and garden.

One of north London's best known pubs, rebuilt in 1874 and bought by Young's in 1904. A veritable Hampstead institution, originally the Lower Flask, which, after its acquisition by Young's, underwent a sympathetic refurbishment, albeit one that was somewhat controversial with locals. The old public bar, with its separate entrance, darts board and TV screen, is very much as it was and, incidentally, this is the only part of the pub open from 11.00, the lounge opens at noon. As you enter the lounge, your eyes are immediately drawn to the fine tinted sepia photographs which adorn a full-height timber-and-glass screen separating this room from the public bar. This small, intimate area then leads into a larger back bar. Finally you are led into a conservatory, very much for eating. A CAMRA London Heritage Pub listed for its historic interior. Tuesday quiz nights. Third of a pint taster paddles available and are good value. Various board games including dominoes. Children permitted until 20.00.

As roasts in London go I would rate this 5/10. The beef was overdone and the double top Yorkshire pudding was a bit dry. Believe there was a potato shortage and the sauce on the side was extra charge. Still very nice location. Very good Bloody Mary. Still in search of the best Bloody Mary but this one was alright.

Great service let down by very disappointing food. Sunday roast looked and tasted like it was cooked hours ago and reheated. Beef was overcooked and dry, potatoes tasted like they had been frozen originally and also dry and the “truffle cauliflower cheese” was lacking truffle and any flavour from cheese. If only we’d had been closer to home and not missed lunch we would have left without eating it. Kudos to the great staff who tried to salvage things by offering a complimentary dessert - I’m just glad I wasn’t paying for the less than average piece of cheddar, fridge-cold Brie and one type…

We had an absolutely lovely Sunday roast experience here. Our waitress, Aysia, was super helpful, attentive and friendly. The staff, the service and the drinks are great, and all our food was delicious!

Had a delicious Sunday roast here. Unlike the other pubs I tried to book online a couple of days before, it had a table available INSIDE and when we got there it was a nice spacious one in a good spot even though there were only 2 of us. It was refreshing to be able to order pork shoulder rather than the usual pork belly roast too. Service and beer recommendations from LEXE were great and when we overstayed it was no problem for them. Full marks!

Great atmosphere and quality of service at The Flask! Evie was excellent and kept asking if all was fine, and it was much more than just that! Thank you again! Recommend!
