About Fox

From the Urban Pubs & Bars website -

"We opened the Fox at Crouch End, following a four week refurbishment. What was a cocktail bar and pizzeria has been transformed into a pub and kitchen in the heart of Crouch End.

As you walk in you are welcomed into the main bar area, serving real ales, cocktails and fantastic wines."

On Google Street View, you can go back in time with snap shots, November 2020 shows it as Monkeynuts which would be the keg wine bar. It changes to Allora Hall by April 2021. It was Monkeynuts in the first snapshot in 2008.

Lovely, reliable gastropub to pop in for lunch. Good beers on tap and prices are very reasonable for the standard of food and the area. Been a couple times and have never been disappointed. The pub itself is very well laid out and extremely comfortable too!

First visit since it arrived in Crouch End. Excited to try the menu. For a Friday evening in November, it wasn't busy at all. I ordered the ox cheeks but the portion looked minimal. We ended up ordering triple cooked chips which tasted nice, all five pieces. It's tastes ok but I felt the sauce was rich and salty. Disappointing. My friend orders the lamb and really enjoyed the dish. For dessert we ordered the cookie dough and sticky toffee pudding, it was extremely sweet and the ice cream scoop looked like it shrank. For the price of the meal, it didn't seem good value or tasty…

Great service, delicious food and organised a table of seventeen with no fuss at all. We had vegans and meat eaters and everybody enjoyed their meal. Our server Daisy was lovely. Thank you for making my birthday celebration special

We went with a lot of children, so plenty to go wrong but it didn't. Their food was good and eaten all up, so was ours. Only criticism was the steak cooking..the sirloins are not cheap and you should be able to tell the rare from the well done (obviously well done request was for the pregnant woman). The service was really friendly, good with children's questions, and quick enough. It does its job better than you think it would. .

As a local who has lived in the area for over 8 years now. I would say that the Fox is often the best for food and atmosphere, although it's often pricey for what you get. However you need to sort out your staffing problems. It was great when Stephen was GM recently but it has been hit and miss since with a high turnover of slow, inattentive, with often clueless and rude staff who regularly forget your orders or often it comes out wrong. We go often and are regulars. For example, Shane was a godsend when I went last week, she was great. However, went yesterday for food and drink only to be…
