About Queens

Upscale, high-ceilinged corner pub built circa 1902, featuring original Art Nouveau glass details.

Aug 2024 - a visitor commented, " Lots of chromium-plated fonts, but I didn't see any handpumps. The chalk board outside did say Real Ales, but I saw no evidence inside. I didn't enquire, or I might have found myself buying a pint I didn't want." We are looking to double check this.

A well restored building, built originally as a hotel, which was saved from becoming a pizza restaurant by a campaign run by local residents and supported by CAMRA. The pub boasts a wealth of carved fittings and original features, including a large circular central bar, making it an important historical landmark in Crouch End. It is listed on CAMRA's National inventory of pub interiors of special historic interest as well as being Grade II listed.

It is a companion piece to the equally fine Salisbury, Green Lanes, N 4 . Both were built by the same developer - John Cathles Hill and it retains much of its original layout, including a screen in the front bar, now cut through to give all round access. Wonderful art nouveau-style stained glass and a marvellous, circular main entrance. One end of the pub has now been laid out for formal dining, with an ornate ceiling and open kitchen and there is a small garden at the rear (heated in winter).

Oh wow! We popped in for a drink and were bowled over by the stunning interior. Original decor throughout and an absolute treat for those interested in stepping back in time. Nd what a lovely atmosphere - young families, dog friendly, people helping themselves to the board games on offer. Definitely coming back to try the Sunday lunch!

Got the veggie roast, Wellington was nice but was a bit plain. Unlimited gravy (and roast potatoes) were a welcome touch but the roast potatoes looked and tasted deep fried. Got busier when we left about 4-430, was quiet and easier to get a table when we arrived at 3pm. Friend who got the beef was much happier.

Just want to shout out all the gluten free options on the menu - literally most of the menu! I was looking for a local Sunday roast and so glad I checked out the menu here. Can find gf roasts but often not Yorkshire puddings, such a treat. Even the puddings were all gluten free! I will say I have an intolerance, not diagnosed celiac. But do highly recommend The Queens. Servers were lovely and helpful as well.

We have been going to this gorgeous pub for years now. The Sunday roast is so delicious and the portion is generous too compared to the other places that we have been. We also order fish fingers for our little one that turned out to be a piece of a fish cured into few pieces ( not a shop bought fish fingers) which was delicious. It’s usually fully booked on Sundays in the dining area so better to book a table in advance. They also have a heated garden area and the bar side where they serve food as well as drinks. They don’t do chicken roast any more which is shame and I hope we see that…

We had an incredible mixed roast with bottomless Yorkshire pudding which was incredible. My partner quoted “it’s my dream to eat a roast with unlimited Yorkshire puddings”. His dream was fulfilled. Staff were lovely. Thank you!!
