About Jolly Gardeners

Enduring pub, with its original timber bar, offering plentiful plates & an extensive drinks menu.

After an earlier spell as the Jolly Cockney, the pub was repositioned in 2008 as a German beer pub. Following a change of management in 2021, the venue is now more of a gastro-pub. This spacious and airy Victorian corner pub has two seating areas separated by central servery, and period features including cornice, columns, and bar stillion. Has a number of beers on tap, mainly from south London breweries, and cask ale was restored in autumn 2023. Since July 2023 it has a sister pub in East Greenwich, The Duke of Greenwich.

Lovely local pub and restaurant! Would highly recommend everything we had (see pictures with labels), but the cod fillet was definitely the star main. The food was really great, clearly of high quality and the flavors blended well together. The menu also uses seasonal vegetables and fruits, and is creatively designed so that you can try something you’ve never had before, or they also have classic comfort dishes as well. As you can see from the pictures, the presentation of the food is very inviting too. We had a lovely server as well who was attentive and helpful. We will be coming back!

This pub had fantastic live music and a great atmosphere. The service was good, just a little bit slow since it was a busy Sunday. We waited a long time after booking to order and longer to receive our food. The lamb Sunday roast was okay, just had a little bit too much fat. They served us lovely Yorkshire puds and gravy. The vegetarian roast was very small and disappointing, but the butternut squash mash was very nice. They also had no coffee. I did enjoy my old fashioned!

Laid-back and excellent pub-restaurant ambience, also the quality of ingredients used in all kinds of plates is superb. Definitely will come back! Average prices for London

Gem of a place, fully modernised with a traditional Central bar, also a garden room, friendly owners and staff. Perfect for functions (we attended a wedding). Great atmosphere and nice vibe in the local area.
