About Mitre
1850 pub with original mosaic floors and etched glass, upstairs dining room and basement speakeasy.
Wedge shaped corner pub which it is said gives rise to its name. Built in 1859 and Grade II-listed, the internal arrangements have been much altered over the years but there is still an impressive body of fittings from the Victorian period. This venue is one of London's Real Heritage Pubs with original etched glass, unusual rounded front doors at the corner entrance and four interconnecting rooms. Spot the "Ladies Only" signage on the glass. An upstairs dining room can be hired for private parties and there is also a small outside space with seating. Children are welcome. Taken over by Young's in 2008, it attracts both drinkers and tourists, the latter looking mainly for good food. Guest ales are not always available.
"Old Mary's" cocktail bar can be found downstairs, reputedly haunted by Old Mary herself! It has its own website at oldmarys.co.uk

I visited this charming, cozy pub with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The place had a lively buzz, as it was quite busy, which only added to its appeal. I ordered my drink directly at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed it while soaking in the relaxed, friendly vibe of the place. It’s the kind of pub where you can easily unwind and feel at home.

As an American, this cozy and welcoming pub is everything we imagine a proper pub to be. We enjoyed a cozy fire by our table after a long walk through Hyde Park. Amaya made sure our drinks were full and that we were happy. It truly doesn't get any better than this. Thank you, Amaya, for your smile and warm welcome. Thanks also to the Mitre for leaving me with a memory of a simple afternoon in London that I will never forget.

Wonderful local place for a pint and some food. Excellent atmosphere with amazing food and an excellent selection of local ales. I simply loved this place and I can’t wait to visit there again.

Stopped in for afternoon beer and fries and were really happy with the place. Definitely felt like a pub, and was not very busy midday. Service was friendly. The fries were nothing special or creative but they were good for what they were.

The Mitre is probably the best pub in london ! over 10 different pints and a FIREPLACE are waiting for you at the gates of Hyde Park. Annie was the most amazing hostess who welcomed us with kindness and hospitality. She is very demure. Will definitely come back!
