About Stablehand
This is a new gastropub on the site of the old Hall & Woodhouse Archery Tavern (a separate entry in this WhatPub database), which closed at the start of 2006 when the lease ran out. The site dates from 1839 and the old pub was named after the archery range on which it was built. The site then became a restaurant. It is on the corner of Bathurst Mews which also contains Hyde Park Stables, offering horse riding lessons in the park to adults and children.
The pub states "we aim to be London’s only gastro pub sourcing all of our ingredients from the British Isles, and where that is not possible, we look to source ingredients from countries and territories with close links to Britain". The food offering includes bar snacks, sharing platters and Sunday roasts.
The handpumps offer two cask beers from Windsor & Eton; some keg beers are also available. Note that a service charge may be added to all bills.
Note also the rather splendid licensing sign at the top of the building.

Nice setting and interior on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered the grazing board which was great, and we also the beef Sunday roast. Was alright but we ordered rare, and came grey.. potatoes/veg left something to be desired and the gravy was quite thin too. Expect more for the price! Pleasantly surprised by the wine. Overall not bad, but can defo get more for your cash elsewhere.

Amazing service and excellent food. Top notch Scotch Egg and spot on Bangers and Mash. Scotch Egg was super crispy on the outside without being dry and egg cooked perfectly in center. Bangers and Mash was big surprise because its simple dish but superbly put together. Mash's consistency was spot on to be not too thick, creamy, or chunky. Sausage was grilled spot on to bring out full flavor with nice char. But my favorite was the onion gravy, amazing stuff. Three put together made it the best banger and mash I had. Thank you chef and the staff.

Beautiful old converted pub to restaurant where you can have a great Sunday roast. My beef was perfectly cooked. Potatoes I prefer a bit more fluffy crisp. But we will come back.

We had a very nice evening and dinner. The atmosphere and customer service was great. I had the salmon and it was quite good. No issues making the reservation.

We enjoyed our meal at the Stablehand having a reservation for a week day evening. We took advantage of their set menu offer with a glass of good English Red wine. The food was British Cuisine. The main dining room and pub is well appointed with features and pictures of the buildings previous use. The service was fine and the ambience good. Certainly a place to revisit with friends for a quiet drink and a spot of dinner.
