About Mitre

Pub & beer garden in an 1860s building serving ales & ciders amid leather chairs & vintage woodwork.

The Mitre was build by Young's in 1861 on leased land. The freehold was later bought in 1989 from the local church charity trust and is now a Free house. The pub is tucked away just off the A305 Sheen Rd or the Lower Richmond Road via Sheendale Road and railway bridge. Simply furnished with wood flooring, there is an outside decked area at the front and a patio garden at the back. The pub has a number of leaded stained-glass windows featuring different colourful church mitres. Smart refurbished toilets installed in 2016. The bar now sports 14 hand-pumps serving beers on constant rotation all from small independent brewers outside the M25. Three dedicated to cider/perry. Real cider not always available, expect Lilley's Cider at times. There are also three 'craft' keg lines installed on the bar with beers from the likes of Jaipur IPA, Wiper & True PA and Guinness (at normal temp), plus a lager. Log fire is lit during colder months.

Authentic Neapolitan style Pizzas available to eat in or take away Wednesday to Sunday. Monday Ale & Cider Club. All cask ale (except Timothy Taylor) and Cider £3.50 a pint. Home to Rudi, was officially the cutest pub dog in Britain in a book published in 2017.

The pub suffered considerably damage over the years; two bombs were dropped on it in WWII and the chimney stack fell though the roof during the 'great storm' of January 1990.

We had our wedding reception here and it was the BEST decision ever. Chris, Matt the team were the so relaxed and helped facilitate anything we needed. The food was amazing and they let us decorate, have a Photo Booth and even let our guests pull pints 🤣.

By far the best pub in Richmond. We regularly go to the Mitre, as they serve really fresh cask ales that change regularly. They also serve fantastic pizza’s where you can choose your own toppings or have the monthly special. We often get the dough balls as they are the perfect accompaniment to a few pints! Definitely get down there if your in the area!

This pub used to be our local before covid so when we were looking for a space to hire for a party in Richmond, it was the first place that came to mind. The garden was the perfect size for our 40 person gathering. We ordered pizzas to share and everyone commented on how good they were. There is both sun and shade available in the garden and a cosy feel inside for the winter months. Children are allowed until 5pm, but it's predominantly catered for grown ups. Rudi the dog is always a welcoming addition. We couldn't have asked for a better venue. Thank you to Chris and the team for everything…

We held a surprise party here at this picture-perfect pub & it couldn't have been any better. Chris went above & beyond to make it an awesome night. He was a pleasure to deal with & thought of everything. The venue was just right. There was plenty of inside & outside space but in flowing sections so it didn't get too crowded, but also didn't seem empty when people were outside. I can not recommend this venue enough for a large or small gathering. The staff & the venue were brilliant & equally as nice & helpful as the manager. Chris really was the perfect host. And unlike a lot of the other…
