About Orange Tree
Close to the Station, this is one of the best known Richmond pub, especially as shuttle buses to Twickenham rugby stadium go from behind the pub. The building dates from at least 1780 but was rebuilt around 1897 in the distinctive brick and terracotta style popular at the time. It achieved fame by being the home of the Orange Tree Theatre company who then used the upstairs function room. The Theatre moved in 1990 to a former school across the road. The pub recently been refurbished in a contemporary style. The large bar at ground level is complemented by a basement bar and heated outdoor drinking area. Good food is served all day; the dining area has a hanging indoor garden under the skylights.

Nice looking place, they gave us a private booth because we were a booking of 10. Staff were very nice but we kept having to ask for some same basic stuff. Roast was average apart from the beef was barely luke warm - I asked for them to warm it up but it basically came back the same. Toilets not very clean / kept.

Food was excellent, but service was amateur. Drinks weren’t made for 15 minutes, despite us being next to the bar and watching them chat and stand around. Had to be reminded. And another reminder for the tap water. Sides were forgotten and brought after we’d finished our meal. Sauces were requested and forgotten, got my horseradish for my last bite of beef. Asked for bill, took them way too long to get it. All in all, tasty food, but bad staff.

Very tasty and well cooked supper. Friendly and helpful service. Venue a bit noisy but it was a Saturday evening so probably inevitable.

Excellent pub, great atmosphere and terrific, friendly service. Ethan and Sam behind the bar made my stay easy, comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommend a visit if you’re passing through Richmond, an easy 5 stars !

Second time I’ve been here and I came back purely because of the vegan nut roast. My partner had fish and chips. Both generous portions and we enjoyed the food. Also very friendly staff. Thank you!
