About Pelt Trader
European craft beers on tap, plus pizza and charcuterie, in simple cellar bar with vaulted ceiling.
Varying guest beers mainly from microbreweries from up to six cask taps behind bar (e.g. Buxton, Moor, Tiny Rebel), plus ‘craft’ keg beers and lagers from the UK and the Continent and a cider from 14 keg taps. Independent pub in railway arch underneath Cannon Street railway station, opened in June 2013 and in same ownership as Holborn Whippet WC1, Bloomsbury Lanes WC1, Waterloo Tap and part-ownership of Euston Tap, NW1. Approached through archway opening out into bar area with industrial white decor, limited bench seating, ceiling fans and metallic panels behind bar. A canoe hangs from the ceiling. Decorative mirrors depict pelt traders, the Skinners' Hall being located opposite. Pizzas prepared on the premises. It is only when you go through to the toilets you realise it is a railway arch.

Surprisingly spot on. Great options inside to sit, chat, drink and eat (if you like enormous pizzas). Decent range of craft beers on tap. Helpful and polite service. Can't fault it. What a lovely surprising place.

Comes across as a craft beer pub more than a classic english. Lots of taps. A little tricky to make out what they have, and when busy you don’t get a lot of time with the staff to discuss options. Still a good vibe to it and fairly easy to find a spot to stand at least.

The delicious pizzas on the menu were a delightful surprise, offering a perfect complement to the diverse drink options. However, the limited seating was a slight drawback, making it challenging to secure a table during peak hours. Despite this, the vibrant atmosphere and exceptional offerings make it a must-visit for beer and pizza enthusiasts willing to savor a cozy experience.

Extensive choice of beer. A number of cask ales in condition. German specialty beers. Even a real high juice cider on tap. Popular with office groups. In an arch under the station. Quirky decor. Loos clean; decor could do with a wee refresh here. Service okay, but could be more friendly; a smile and some sort of engagement is nice when it’s not busy. All in all good drinks and good choice.

Interesting "frontier" type decor vibe ....decent selection of craft beer, would be nice if they did a bit more normal lager similar to Amstel. They do a good German weisse beer though...also good pizzas.
