About Penderel's Oak
Carpeted, contemporary-styled pub in office block, with pavement tables and eclectic bar menu.
In Sept 2022 Spoons announced this pub lease as being for sale.
A large Wetherspoon's pub, named after Richard Penderel, who, in 1652, helped King Charles II escape from Cromwell’s troops by hiding him in an oak tree on his country estate. French windows can open onto pavement seating; cosy areas near fireplaces; an area with booths and benches; and a family area. A long, curved bar upstairs, downstairs a large cellar bar for a generally younger clientele with music and videos, whose opening hours are not the same as the main bar. Disabled access and toilet (ground floor only). Food served all day until 23.00 (last orders 18.00 for family meals). Tube: Holborn.
Following CAMRA's updated definition of "real cider", pubs such as this selling for example Old Rosie and Orchard Pig or other ciders such as Thistly Cross, Stans, Gwynt Y Draig, Broadoak etc. no longer qualify for the "Real cider" tag.

The Fiesta Brunch was tasty - toast, poached egg, mushroom, halloumi and salsa. The egg was slightly overcooked. The pub has a large, attractive interior, very quiet at 11am. The staff were fine.

Just when I thought we found our go to pub, this gem pops up. It's right off a bus stop which is convenient. It's huge! Its history is amazing. It sits on the site of the farmer who hid King Charles II. You should really look into it. They have a bar at ground level and a cellar bar as well, which is huge in itself. There is plenty of seating. They have a beer garden in the back as well as tables outside the front of the pub. Staff is super friendly and attentive and on top of things. The food is really good. We had curry and the portions are quite satisfying. You have the option to get a…

I was very impressed with this pub and restaurant. I was served very quickly and politely. No drama or rolling the eyes when I asked to try an ale. I enjoyed a Big Chief for £4.55 and was happy to donate my change our of a fiver. Definitely one to pop into for value for money food and drinks combined with friendly service. 5 stars.

Excellent pub. Our first time in London and found ourselves witless as our first day was during a bank holiday, and everything was closed, but Penderel's Oak was open. The food was outstanding, so much that we returned to dine here several times during our vacation, despite our plans to visit other famous pubs. Also, the toilet (at least the men's room) was impeccably clean.
