About Pig & Butcher

Craft beers and seasonal meats butchered onsite casually presented at untreated wood tables.

Formally part of the Tap chain now thoroughly re-branded. The pub was built in the mid 1800's on what was fields used by farmers to rest and feed their livestock before being sent to Smithfield's Meat Market. A small but interesting range of cask beers is joined by a very larger bottled selection. With scrubbed tables, candles, the standard Islington distressed look works well. Food now a major part of the offering, sourced meat from Kent and Speyside, fish from Cornwall; visit their website for more information including serving times. Beer range can vary, those listed are to give an example of what may be found. In same ownership as Smokehouse and Princess of Shoreditch.

We had the Sunday roast with the Chicken (for 2 people) and one beef. Very delicious and I think the best is the vegetables. The portion is huge. Beef is good. The potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding are more crispy type. Scotch eggs are good too. It’s a very popular place, better to reserve early. We walked in and can only sat at the outdoor tables, which is okay as the weather was not bad. Nice place for trying Sunday roast.

This is one of my favourite gastro pubs in London. Have been there three times, not disappointed once. This time I ordered their signature pig dish again. I was happy with the quality. The only slight snug is perhaps presentation. Lamb was also very good. Service was just simply delightful. All the waiters were so genuinely helpful & all smiles.

I’m rating 4 star for food but I’d like to clarify that it is only for the 1 dish I had. The cod and potatoes (lunch) was good. The dessert was good too. The restaurant’s interior is beautiful and has a really nice atmosphere. When I visited at lunch it was quiet- a calm, peaceful vibe. The service was great. The staff were friendly and smiley. I would visit it again to try more food.

It's not the best Sunday roast in London. It's not bad, it's just ranked 3rd out of 3 that I have tried thus far. The meat and the sides were unseasoned and required a lot more gravy, salt and pepper to become enjoyable HOWEVER. Their starters are top-notch. Me and my fiancée shared a scotch egg and the tartare. They were both amazing The service is also a bit slow but they are extremely polite

If it wasn’t for the ridiculously overpriced wine list and the fact that the overpriced white was served warm, 5 stars. Perfectly cooked scotch egg, nice runny yolk, though the outside was a bit over crisp. The scallop and black pudding was elegant and tasty. The crab gratin also wonderful. And the pork cheek with black pudding beautifully done. Friendly efficient service. Wish they allowed you to bring your own wine. Would happily pay corkage
