About Steam Passage Tavern

A familiar range of ales and lagers is served at this bustling spot offering British pub grub.

A large busy, bustling pub (it has been knocked though into the next door indian restaurant) which opens onto the street through big clear windows, and where the drinking areas totally wrap themselves around an L-shaped, central bar. There is a raised seated area at the back; wooden floors and half height, oak coloured wood panelling. Bistro style food is served. handy for Islington Design Centre.

🚇 Angel 🍺 £5.45 Amstel A Traditional Upper Street Pub Experience. The Steam Passage is located on the lower end of bustling Upper Street in Islington. The nearest Tube is Angel, it’s a five minute walk to get here. This pub was built in 1843 and was originally called The Star & Garter. The pub was renamed The Champion in 1973 after its licensee, Len Harvey a former champion boxer. He fought 418 contests, winning three British and Empire titles - across three different weights. The pub was renamed again The Passage in 1983 and The Steam Passage in 2016. This is a good size pub that is…

Had a fantastic experience at the Steam! The atmosphere was great. Elizabeth was also great along with The rest of the staff they were just as friendly and welcoming, creating a relaxed and comfortable environment. If you're looking for top-notch service and a great pub experience, this is the place to go. Will definitely be returning!

A large group of us (40+) came to Steam Passage for the Euros final and had a fabulous time (despite the result). Great thanks to the super friendly and helpful team in the pub, especially Truly, the absolute superstar. On an evening that was extremely busy and packed out, the team went out of their way to ensure all of us could squeeze in and be comfortable in our seats to enjoy the match. Special thanks to Truly who had been so helpful for us from the booking and number changes, to the space arrangement for us, and going above and beyond to help out throughout the whole evening. We are all…

One of my favourites. I sometimes pop in on my day off for lunch. Nice chilled atmosphere during the day. Also been in the evenings, has a great lively atmosphere. Food is good and the prices are very reasonable. Great staff, super friendly. Special shoutout to Ana!

Really nice pub with friendly, helpful staff and a great atmosphere. Extensive food and drinks menu at reasonable prices and a wide selection of lagers. My BBQ mac n cheese burger and chips was delicious 🍔😋 Would highly recommend for sports as there's lots of screens 📺
