About Regent

Once a purpose-built cinema, now a large, music-free Stonegate pub serving a simple menu.

A pleasantly furbished town centre former Wetherspoon pub in what was originally the Regent cinema dating from the 1920s, and more recently a furniture shop. Light interior with numerous TV screens. A long bar runs along the right-hand side. Steps at the far end lead to a raised seating area. Lots of photos of old Walton plus Brooklands and Shepperton studios. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Popular with students, gets busy at weekends.

This pub has fallen right down the toilet. It used to have amazing food. Arrived last weekend, where I was told that it was under new management and no longer offers food menus. They don't sell non alcoholic cider. As a responsible driver, my partner fancied one as she couldn't drink an alcoholic cider. She opted to go without. The lager range is poor too. Only stopped off briefly, which was a shame, as we wanted to make an afternoon of it. For a weekend, the atmosphere was absolutely dead. This used to be a great family afternoon out before the new ownership took over. Used to be a…

I like this pub, it's rarely crowded, so there is always a space to seat and enjoy the atmosphere. The stuff is extremely friendly and caring. I ordered BBQ chicken wings, but received spicy ones (still delicious, however, felt a little bit dragon), my plate was exchange to the correct one without any issues. Appreciate it and recommend this nice local pub 👍

This used to be a nice pub, but has now lost atmosphere. The DJ is quite miserable, and to be told that he is not allowed to go beyond 90's music after requesting for some 80's is ridiculous. My full glass of wine was cleared away whilst I was up dancing at 12 40am, 20 minutes before closing. I was not happy when I returned to our table to find it gone!

Great pub with plenty of room. Serving good pub food at reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly and happy to help. Would recommend.
