About Stags Head

Hog roasts, live bands and movies in a restored pub with 1930s vinyl dance floor and a beer garden.

The closure of this traditional street-corner pub gave considerable cause for concern that its charms would be lost forever. However, the good news is that the pub has re-opened and the inter-war interior of this former Truman's pub remains on show as does its fine exterior. The essential component is the use of wooden panelling which incorporates mirrors, beer names and wonderful fire-places. There remain several rooms and a larger side-room for entertainments.

There is also a walled garden for warmer and lighter evenings with summer hog roasts and DJs. Pizzas are served from the open kitchen. A traditional piano completes the scene. Nearest station is Haggerston. Buses can be found on Kingsland Rd. get off at Laburnam St., walk towards the Regent's Canal and turn left down Orsman Rd.

As a recent visitor commented, "Really amazing & unspoilt interior; a true London boozer. Not many left like this alas."

This must be one of my favourite random discoveries in London. Went here for some food on a Sunday, the lady at the bar was super nice and friendly, the pub is an old one with classic old school charm and they have this lovely and chill beer garden. We stayed in the garden and enjoyed a cold pint. I had the baby chicken Sunday roast and my friend had the vegan pizza. We were both happy with the food and they have big portions so you won’t leave hungry for sure! Cute story - this is the bar where part of Baby Rain-deer was filmed. Check the front of the pub for a visual reminder (the moment…

Just popped in for a drink, passed this place many times, however didn't realised they have back garden and serve food.Very friendly service ,food was tasty and presented immaculately. Reasonably priced for that part of London.

Amazing venue, been coming here for over 4 years. Amazing little Boozer opposite an amazing music university. Staff wonderful menu and food great, always keeping fresh and updated also does the best Sunday Roast! Good Luck getting a roast at a Spoons! Atmosphere is perfect so good they film on location here the movie industry!

Absolute gem of a place. Really original interior from 1920s. Simple food menu with enough choice for everyone. Has a lovely garden and a performance area inside. Also has a great choice of music on that makes it a really happy place

There are few places in borough that attain my local status but.. THE STAGS. We love. Great staff, music, vibes, beer garden, food, and Sunday roast. Big shoutout to maria and the team!
