About Theodore Bullfrog

Traditional bar bites served up in a relaxed pub featuring a main bar, event space & an apartment.

Post-war pub with a multi-level bar layout on a corner site just off Villiers Street. Previously part of Whitbread’s Beefeater chain. Originally licensed in 1690 as the St Martins Tavern and rebuilt in 1959, it was renamed the Gilbert & Sullivan for a while in the 1970s. Downstairs there's an L-shaped bar in the far corner. On the first floor there's a dining room, which can also be hired for private parties, etc. Pub fare is fairly typical e.g. pies, burgers and toasties, and bar snacks are available. There are two TV screens, and an eclectic range of background music is played at a reasonable volume. Comedy nights on Saturdays (booking needed and door charge). If you're drinking outside after 6pm you may have to settle for a plastic glass. To compensate, there are ledges on the pavement side of the windows which are ideal for setting your pint down. If this pub is one of a number on your tour, do watch out for the steps just inside the entrance!

Potential visitors should not be put off by this pub's clunky name; it is a pleasant oasis of calm, away from the bustle of Strand and Charing Cross.

As from 2019 Youngs operate this pub under a leasehold agreement. There are three ale handpumps including normally a guest ale that rotates monthly.

Honestly good and nice little pub I have to be honest this wasn't our first choice , the first one being full and second one closed. A quick search on google maps revealed this "off the beaten path" pub. Reviews looked good so we gave it a try. I don't know if it was because it was a bank holiday or a rainy Monday but it was not busy at all. The open area surrounded by windows made it very luminous and inviting. We had a high tea booked for later in the afternoon so we only needed a place to get away from the rain and grab a "light snack" and a scotch egg, sausage roll, chips and some good…

The fish and chips still came with skin on it, which was the first time that's ever happened to us. The steak was well aged but was not cooked with any seasoning of salt and pepper at all. The servers were nice but the atmosphere was kind of bland.

An absolute gem, and just a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle. A warm welcome from the manager and a friendly atmosphere. The food was cooked to perfection and presentation was excellent. It arrived hot and very quickly.

Fantastic place, outstanding food and Evan was the best! Friendly crowd, easy to access and a must stop on a Trafalgar pub crawl! Did I mention that Evan was awesome!

Quarter Final - pre-booked for 6 people. Great table in front of big screen. Issues in the kitchen with their deep fryer but food was good and Guinness excellent! Staff were brilliant and coped despite how busy the pub was and how loud!! We had a great evening and a superb result!!!
