About Tide End Cottage
Traditional pub tucked away in a terrace of houses close to the river and serving familiar pub grub.
The Tide End Cottage pub is situated 50 yards from the bank of the River Thames. The pub dates back to 1820. It was near this pub on the River Thames at Tough's boat yard that 100 "small ships" were assembled prior to their perilous passage across the English Channel to assist in the Dunkirk evacuation in May 1940. The old pub sign (now replaced) depicted the evacuation of the BEF under German fire. The pub has a deceptively small frontage but it goes back a long way. It has two outdoor drinking and smoking areas front and rear. It was refurbished internally in May 2015. On handpump are usually two ciders: typically from Lilly's. The kitchen provides a comprehensive menu and is typical Greene King fare.

It's my first visit. The Yorkshire pudding is crispy and not oily at all. I like the roasted taste of the vegetables. The beef is nice too. The warm sticky toffee pudding is rich. The service is very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!

I visited this pub recently and was amazed by the great service and even better food (I highly recommend the fish and chips). My dog, Buddy, loves the easy access to treats behind the bar and water bowl on demand. Very friendly staff and I will definitely be coming again next time Buddy and I are on a walk as he loved the attention.

Visited here recently for a family birthday and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Super friendly team that were brilliant with the kids. The food was great and our whole party had a great day.

Whatever this pub claims, it is NOT a dog-friendly establishment, and the staff will bluntly inform patrons of arbitrary unwritten rules such as: - no dogs by bar area (even if you’re just placing an order) - no dogs on (any) seats - no dogs on your lap or on your coat Just to mention a few. From the moment you enter with a pooch, they make it clear in subtle and not so subtle ways that dogs really aren’t welcomed in this establishment. OK food.
