About Virgin Queen
It was built by West's Brewery in the 1920,s and was the Duke of Sussex until renamed by the previous landlord after his favourite football team, West Bromwich Albion. Situated between Broadway Market and Columbia Flower Market on the cycle route from Hackney to the City, it attracts a cosmopolitan clientele. The pub was sold to small chain operator Remarkable Restaurants who have refurbished it and reopened in December 2017 in collaboration with a fish restaurant. It now has a traditional feel with wood pannelling apparently recycled from a church.

A nice cosy pub with a nice cosy fireplace. They have a nice selection of beers, many are brewed locally in east London. Came here for the Sunday roast, had to wait a bit but it was worth it. The beef and pork belly were fantastic.

🚇 Bethnal Green 🍺 £6.40 Pillars Pilsner The Virgin Queen is located just south of Broadway Market close to Regents Canal in Hackney. The nearest Tube is Bethnal Green, London Fields Overground is also nearby. The Duke of Sussex was built in 1842 by local brewers West's Brewery. This pub was rebuilt in the 1920’s in a Tudor Revival style which was a popular design of interwar built pubs. In 1997 the pub was renamed The Albion by the then landlord’s team West Bromwich Albion, at the time, the pub was a well renowned footy pub. In 2017 Remarkable Pubs took up the reins, lovingly refurbished…

Absolute gem of a place! Interior is absolutely stunning and the Sunday roast was the best pub roast I have ever eaten. Staff are lovely too.

If you are in Hackeny area - want a nice pint, fish and chips (or a sunday roast) go here. Interior of the pub is stunning, and the little sitting area outside is quite nice. The food was fantastic. I had fish and chips. Really good. Happy to come back again. Get there early on a weekend as outside seats go quick!

Beautiful traditional pub frequented by locals. They have plenty of industrial beer taps and also some from artisanal breweries. Classic but good pub style food: I really enjoyed the chicken pie & mash.
