About Watson's General Telegraph

Spacious beer-centric pub with an ever-changing selection and fire pits in the large rear garden.

Classic Truman's pub, still with original outside decoration and detail, was the Forest Hill Tavern, hence why the buses that terminate outside still have that destination! Inside is open plan with a large bar at one side and a mixture of tables & chairs and sofas. There are open fires and some of the wood panelling survives. Outside the large garden is now mainly covered thanks to a large canopy providing protection from the elements. There are 3 handpumps with one given over to non-real cider. Under Laine management and refurbished in January 2016.

Stopped at the pub on our walk, which we enjoyed very much. We managed to get a table in the garden away from the smoke of the BBQs. The garden was busy, but the only downside was the smoke from the barbecue that spoilt it a little. We have enjoyed a plate of sardines with vegetables. They had a big selection of lagers and other drinks. The toilets were clean, and the service was attentive.

Best pub in the area - the food is great, there are so many beers on tap and it has a cosy atmosphere, pub quiz nights and jazz, and the staff are all amazing. Lucky to have such a great pub nearby.

We stumbled across this place when trying out a spa down the road and hit a serious gem. The guy working the bar is super chill and friendly, the place has a great vibe, even though it didn’t have that many people in when we were here. The food was amazing and came out really quickly. Highly recommended!

We were thoroughly looked after by two wonderful staff, one in particular went the extra mile of looking after us, when our table wasn’t ready and then again when our request to take the food out, got muddled. It all worked out perfectly and we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere and particularly how helpful the staff were ( this you man particularly) I’m only sorry we didn’t get his name and didn’t tip him! He took my booking though. And he was so kind to get water for our dog too! By the way the last question on this survey should include dog friendly! Which you are! Or include Free…

The service is incredible…. One of the best ones in London! The team is super friendly, helpful, fun & nice. The atmosphere is so lovely both indoors and outdoors.. the Xmas decoration is impeccable … and the fire place makes the place even more cozy. Selection of wine and beer is spot on! Food is fantastic…Sunday roast is superb…. Burgers are also amazing! Just love this place so much and couldn’t recommend any more. Great vegan options 🥰
