About Alfred Tennyson

A smartly laid-out pub with a more formal upstairs dining room serving Modern European cuisine.

In a Grade II-listed building and for long an old-fashioned boozer (and featuring in CAMRA's Good Beer Guides from 1972 to the late '90s), the emphasis now under Cubitt House management is very much on sitting down and eating, although it is perfectly possible to have a beer at the bar.

Cubitt operates a small chain of central London venues of a similar food-oriented nature.

We went with high expectations to try typical London food. The place was ok, but the food was sad! No flavor at all, few quantity, and the price really doesn't match with the quality.. the puree was so plain, the pie three small pieces of meat, the gravy almost like water .. I don't know if it's this British culinary but I don't really recommend that place. The worst, they charge 5 pounds for a bread that we didn't ask for.. and it was almost burned with butter hard as a rock...

Everything is amazing only downside was the size. Could not have a chat with my partner, since it was so noisy inside. But otherwise it was perfect experience for a early meal

We chose this restaurant based on Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. We each began with a glass or champagne which was delicious. My friend had 3 small plates - Figs and Goat cheese, bread, and soup. She loved all of them but couldn't eat but about ½ of the soup as it was so rich and plentiful. I had the fish and chip and it was a large portion and delicious. Loved the very upscale pub atmosphere - bustling and lively yet you could see everything as it is well lit, unlike many pubs. We put this on our list of ' must return to' places to eat when in London again

The food was very disappointing …I was expecting some variety for the price, they charged us 5 pounds for 4 slices of bread and rock hard butter that we were not aware was going to be included in the bill. This plate just has 1 peeled tomato and a small fillet of bass on top. Very bad, not impressed overrated restaurant!!!

Cool pub and great vibes / atmosphere. Staff members are very friendly and welcoming. The food tastes good and is elevated in comparison to the usual pub food.
