About Asparagus

Local craft beers, comfort food & Sunday roasts in a family-friendly traditional pub.

Opened by Wetherspoons in July 1998 in shop units under offices. Turquoise exterior paintwork and various shades of green and blue inside with stained glass. Typical open-plan, split level layout. Named after local 19th century asparagus crop which was sold in 'Battersea Bundles'.

Closed on 17 March 2024, reopened a week later by Portobello with just the outside repainted. Two of their beers are available at £2.90/pt and other local cask beers at approx. £3.45/pt. Portobello are trying to keep their beer at Wetherspoon prices.

I went here to have dinner before coming back to the airport from Clapham. It was the first place, walking from Clapham Junction station, that I thought would have all I needed. A big and warming place inside where I could not only have dinner but also charge my phone and use the restroom before leaving again. I had a Guinness and a chicken burger and it had good quality. The staff is really nice. Thanks!

I really like the name of this lovely pub. Good location. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. The food is really good. Restrooms are upstairs and a handicapped restroom is downstairs. There is a step free entrance for those with mobility issues. It was really busy when we were there. A member of the bar staff really stood out. Kelly was amazing. She worked extremely hard serving, clearing tables, sweeping broken glass, taking care of customers' needs. She was very attentive and she was always on the go. She always had a smile on her face and was always polite. She is a real gem. Make a point…

Even better than when it was a ‘Spoons cos now they allow dogs. £2.95 for a pint of great tasting quality bitter is unbelievable in London! Nice relaxed friendly staff. Reasonably priced decent food. Great outside space. Spotless toilets. Downstairs easily accessible handicapped one. Affable fellow drinkers. There was a stag do and they were really well behaved. Groom (big good-looking [sorry, that’s a bit gay…] tattooed bearded lad) wore gorgeous dress 😂 Defo my new local!

Absolutely lovely environment great selection of beers to and very friendly staff and delightful food!! Highly recommend this place! Just a quick side note it's no longer a Wetherspoons but it's still amazing!

Came across this lovely pub while walking to Greggs!! The waiter/bar man was on his own so had to wait a while but food was well worth the wait. Delicious breakfast baps and Eggs Benedict. Nothing was too much trouble and was definitely the cheapest we've paid in the London area. 😊
