About Black Lion
Airy, modern bar with exposed brick interiors and a split-level garden, serving a gastropub menu.
Large main road pub at West Hampstead Green. A mixture of high and low seating is provided to suit all requirements. Fairly large outdoor drinking areas can be found at both back and front. Food is served from a short but well thought menu with brunches served Friday and Saturday, see their website for more detail.
For many years badged as a standard Greene King pub but now trades under its Metropolitan Pub Company brand. This did result in an expanding and changing range of real ales but as at July 2024 we seem to be down to just the one handpump but if that keeps the quality up, so much the better..

Had the best experience at The Black Lion West Hampstead. Amazing atmosphere and what a lovely staff ! Grab a seat in the back garden on a sunny day or enjoy the live music every Friday & Saturday. They host Rockeoke on Wednesdays with a live band if you fancy singing for an audience and don’t forget to bring your mates for the Sunday Quiz. If you are into sports etc they are also showing all games. Great selection of wines and beers and wonderful cocktails. On top of that they now have a new menu and wow wow wow, can’t recomend enough. The chefs really know what they’re doing + good vegan…

First time in The Black Lion but was it a real treat. It's been seriously refurbished in recent years with a strong food repositioning and wow was the food good! You can tell this clearly by the before and after pictures below!!! We had potato skewers which sounded quirky but were stunning, the Croque Monsieur which was amazing and the Scotch egg - again stunning. Service friendly and prompt, good variety of wines and ales and a very large and south facing beer garden tick most of the boxes you could need. They also allow dogs too. I was a fan of the decor generally but the dark paint scheme…

Taylor is a legend. Exceptional service from him to say the least… amidst a busy evening with a packed out beer garden he took the time to set our tables up and shift some around to seat me and my mates. Great chap; will be back and hopefully see the king again!
