About Clarence
18th-century pub with wooden floors, framed prints and old-world upstairs dining room.
Licensed in 1724 as the Coach & Horses and rebuilt in 1892 and 1953. The pub website references the Duke of Clarence who became King William IV in 1830, though the sign outside shows a later Duke the firstborn son of the future Edward VII, Albert Victor who died in his twenties and hence did not succeed his father. The pub's smallish frontage belies a much larger area extending back. It has a very convivial atmosphere after its refurbishment in 2012, with a pleasant quieter upstairs bar. Nicholson's often have an unusual beer or two here. The pub is located very close to the famous Ritz hotel in Piccadilly.
This is one of many London pubs that has reduced its beer range post-pandemic. Two ciders were on handpump in Aug 23 - Sandford Devon Mist and Old Rosie. Several other beers were "coming soon".
Food options include takeaway and delivery as well as eating in the pub.

This pub is a 5 mins walk from Piccadilly Circus and it was well worth the walk. I went with work who organised group tours and was seated upstairs. Really great atmosphere and really friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. I had the roast chicken and Veg and chocolate brownie for dessert. The portions were huge (I ate every bit) and delicious. Food came out quick for all 50 of us and all piping hot. The quality of the food was stunning. I know I'll be back when I'm not working to sample more of the menu. Thank you to everyone who looked after us.

First time visit London and it is the restaurant I go (the tour included haha). Thanks for the hospitality, great food and good service. Looking forward more nice places in your country, just like this one.

We came here 30min before close for and asked for some sticky toffee pudding. The kitchen had just closed but they made it for us! And It was well worth it. We only had one night in London and I wanted sticky toffee pudding it was amazing! If we ever come back to London I’ll come back here just for the memory and good service despite the raver music I still loved it!!! The staff is amazing!

Visited in September 2023. 4.5/5. First time visit to this pub for after work, catch up drinks on a Friday evening, late September. I made a table reservation. The pub had a lively atmosphere, was deceivingly bigger than it looks. The service was really good - made to feel welcome and had the menu explained. TC specialises in a variety of Gins and cocktails, mixed in with your usual favourites, the pub provides all that you need. The seating is fairly comfortable but wasn’t all that. Fairly clean overall. There is a dining area upstairs, the food looked good from what I saw and menu had the…

We love this pub. Have come many times throughout the years. Service is good and qui. There are some good options of wine ( although a bit pricey for the quality), and some interesting options to snack on. It is just very close to the station so perfect to meet friends coming from different parts of London.
