About King's Head
Traditional pub with dark-wood bar and floors, leather banquettes and a history dating back to 1710.
Large corner establishment with two function rooms. It was originally the Kings Head when licensed in 1710 and then the King John’s Head from 1843 until rebuilt by its landlord, Frederick Shelley in 1870 at a cost of £5,490. Unusually, the pub sign shows two kings, Charles II and George II, hedging bets about the origins of the pub name!
On the ground floor there are two counters with duplicated ale pumps, and the upstairs and downstairs bars usually have a couple of cask ales each.
Food options include click-and-collect, and takeaway.

OMG what a delightful find. Last minute booking for 3 people for mid afternoon meal. Not only did they pull out all the stops to squeeze us in, they made us feel very welcome. The food was freshly cooked and delicious, attention to detail fabulous, staff welcoming and good company and the price very competitive. I will go out of my way to eat here again it was so good. Also - the toilets were the nicest and cleanest I have seen in any establishment for a long time.

We both had pies and they were wonderful! Great atmosphere. Will come back. Photo of Shepard pie. AND it was raining very hard when we left, the staff gave us an umbrella that had long been unclaimed !!! Can’t beat that for attention and service!

We booked the cellar bar at the King's Head for a birthday party. The comms beforehand were great, with all answers asked promptly. The minimum spend requirement was reasonable and the venue was perfect, with enough room for everyone, including dancing. The staff who looked after us all night were great, helping us hook up to the music speakers and dealing with all our queries. I appreciated the fact that they let us know exactly when we'd hit the minimum spend , and refunded our deposit straight away. The only thing that could have been done slightly differently was that they switched off…
