About Harwood Arms
Laid-back gastropub with an upscale, Modern British menu, including handmade scotch eggs and game.
The inn sign depicts the coat of arms of the Earl of Harwood, the original freeholder. Built in 1866 as a beer house. Now the pub is at the very highest end of the gastropub spectrum, with excellent food and a very superior wine selection. Consistently high up in the Estrella Damm national Top 50 Gastropubs awards, listed in the ED National Restaurant Awards and Michelin-starred.
The pub specialises in British food with an emphasis on game, and encourages sustainability by trying to use as much wild food as possible plus fruit and veg from its rooftop garden. The chef/owner has his own herd of sika deer; and the venison scotch egg and Sunday venison roast feature prominently on the menu. The wine list is elaborate with French vintages dominating.
Quiz night is on Tuesday. Because of its food reputation, unsurprisingly most or all of the seating in the evening is laid out for diners and much of it at lunchtime. If you come during busy periods just wanting a drink, be prepared for vertical drinking! And if you do want to eat here, particularly for Sunday lunch, you may have to be prepared to book many weeks in advance.

What a nice experience we had at the Hardwood Arms, the Michelin star is for sure still well deserved! ⭐️ The restaurant is still a pub at heart so you can feel this welcoming and almost nostalgic atmosphere - but what’s truly interesting is how the food is refined yet stays true to the satisfaction you feel after eating at a pub. Each dishes we tried was thoughtfully balanced with different textures and taste, the chef really succeeded to still showcase the main ingredients through simplicity. We came there to celebrate a birthday and the staff were super nice, ensuring that we had a…

Absolutely delicious. The perfect combination of cozy pub vibes and brilliant food. Went for a birthday dinner and would come back any time! The vegetarian options were amazing.

This was a fabulous experience. The only pub with a Michelin star and it did not disappoint. We went on a Sunday to try yhe roast for my dad's birthday. They had a card ready for him which I thought was a lovely touch. I had the fallow deer wrapped in bacon and my friend and dad had the sirloin beef roast. The roast was absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed everything and there was so much I couldn't even finish my plate despite not wanting to waste anything. The only let down was the horseradish cream as it wasn't very strong but I can understand that not everyone likes strong…

Local pub vibes from the outside with a glam touch in the inside. As you arrive to The Hardwood Arms it does look like the typical residential pub, however, fear not, once you walk in you instantly realize you are in for a treat. From the service, to the decor, and of course the food (the food!). The menu is set for a two course (£55) or a three course (£70). It includes filtered water and bread with butter. There is also nibbles you can add on for a £8-£9 each. We are not very big on dessert so went for the 2 course plus nibbles. The concept is English food elevated and it will not…

Went to this beautiful restaurant with some local friends and fellow travelers. The decoration inside was beautiful and the ambiance was relaxed and friendly. There was even a doggo at the table next to us. I love places that serve Michelin food but are still neighborhood favorites. Definitely recommend.
