About Knowles of Norwood
Funky pub in a former hardware store offering modern British fare, vegan options & outdoor seating.
Originally opened by Antic in Nov 2015, occupying part of a former hardware store. Around 5 years later management transferred to Portobello Brewing, who in 2022 extended the venue into the remaining unoccupied part of the former retail store. The spacious main bar area extends right across the front of the pub and has mainly contemporary decor, though some historic features such as tiling do remain. There is a further seating area and pool table towards the rear. Outdoor seating is available at both the front and back of the pub.

1st Time visit for lunch and it was filled with Mums and Babies with live entertainment making it very busy!!! The beer garden was nice and tucked away at the back and very calm and chilled with the sun beating down - made a nice spontaneous eat out moment!! Fish and Chips was not on the menu so ask at the bar/till if its available as I highly recommend this dish… :) 100 percent cooked to perfection served with mushy peas and tartar sauce! The pancakes would have been better served with the sauce in a separate small bowl/dish, was way too much and overwhelmed, over flowed and over soaked…

Friendly staff and a sizeable beer garden whilst being one of few pubs in area with a pool table plus a beer garden, querky decor relaxed atmosphere with lots of indoor plants and intimate lighting as well as a decent cocktail menu and deals, good place for a date or after work drinks with what seems like a friendly clientelle. A little pricey on pints though.

We went for the bottomless brunch. We went to the bar and ordered our meals, and quickly recieved 2/3 of our drinks. After half an hour someone came to take our order, which we had already placed. Two Full English. We said we'd already ordered, but hadn't yet got the coffee we'd paid for. This was brought out. Then the breakfast came. They hadn't informed us that they didn't have every item that their menu claimed came on the plate, so when it came it was missing mushrooms, which are the only reason I ordered the full English in the first place. The egg whites were cold and the yellows…

We were drawn by the great reviews for the Sunday roast and the Kids Table. The Kids Table was a hit with our kids (4 & 7 y/o), as expected. However, we had mixed feelings about the Sunday roast. The beef was excellent, offering three generous slices, surpassing other places. Unfortunately, the pork fell short, needing more cooking time, and the crackling was missing, requiring a separate request. Notably, for our three orders of pork roast, the crackling was served on a single plate for sharing, which wasn't ideal. The Yorkshire puddings were disappointing, being doughy rather than airy. On…

I have worked in hospitality for more than 5 years in this city and I have had the opportunity to visit this Pub and interact with the staff and I can give an honest review. The food is excellent whether you order a small plate or a Steak, the ingredients are fresh and everything is made in the kitchen. They are not frozen products or packaged and heated in the Microwave. The service is very fluid and very fast compared to other places I have visited. The prices are quite reasonable. And as a Plus, they have a pool table where you can go in groups of friends and have a great time. If you…
