About Mad Bishop & Bear

Airy station bar with ornate decor and a chandelier, serving a British pub menu and craft beers.

Opened in 1999 and located on the Upper Mezzanine above The Lawn (the second floor level of the mainly eating and drinking complex) at the front (Praed Street side) of the station, the pub is reached via two sets of escalators, stairs or a lift.

The traditional interior features a long bar, mirrors, and old photographs of the station, with train information screens and two TVs for sports and there are cafe-style seats outside. The raised area up stairs to the left of the entrance is a designated dining area and the raised areas can also be hired for events.

As well as cask ales from the Fuller's stable, the pub often keeps guest ales from around the GWR network. There is a tempting menu available.

The pub does not get too crowded, even in the rush hour. Note that the bar may close early if there are football crowds passing through, and also note that before 10am the licence states that alcohol can be served only with a meal.

The pub was the local CAMRA branch's Pub of the Year in 2015.

A rare Saturday with the Mad Bishop and Bear in Paddington Station being not busy! Extraordinary, anyway it is a big station b run by Fuller's. Plenty of space and the full range of cask and keg ales you may expect from the Chiswick team. The building, part of the station is big and airy, shame escalators not working at the moment but, another day. Great service from behind the bar and enjoyable group(s) of people drinking and eating. A fine addition (long standing) to the station community!

Came in for a pint (or 2) between trains and wanted some proper beer. Found this place tucked away upstairs and what a great shout. Food smells mega, beer is great. I travel alot and this is definitely the best train station pub in the country.

A great place to chill out while waiting for a train or just in the neighborhood. Staff were really kind and helpful and the place has a funky atmosphere. Reasonable prices and delicious food. Thoroughly recommend the Clubhouse Sandwich.

Traditional pub in the roof of Paddington Station above the food court. Good range of drinks and pub grub menu at good prices. Big portions and tasty and a couple of gluten free options. Very handy whilst waiting for a train home. Friendly and helpful staff.
