About North Star

Landmark pub featuring Thai curries, stir-fries & seafood in a modest, old-fashioned atmosphere.

Originally two cottages converted to a pub in about 1858 and one of the oldest drinking establishments in Leytonstone Village Conservation Area. A warm and welcoming pub with very efficient bar staff, it is named after the brigantine in which the first landlord made his only sea voyage, between Hartlepool and India. The public bar has a small serving hatch and the saloon has a long single bar with five handpumps. Thai Food and Pizza are available .though they operate differing hours. Local CAMRA branch pub of the year 2024. The pub may stay open later on Mondays. Please ask at the bar. Dogs are allowed outside only.

Top quality Thai food at this lovely backstreet pub with a village atmosphere, and great real ale and craft beer on tap.

Lovely pub, cozy feel very good customer service. Thai kitchen was wonderful great flavours as was the pub, pizzas looked great but we sampled only the Thai food. Kevin and Preeya and Co did a great job to make us comfortable! Thank you 🙏🏻

I found this pub on a Google post by My London and am very grateful. I knew the area, we used to call it Leytonstone Village, but didn't know about the pub. You'll see from the pics how attractive both the pub and village are. (Yes I know it's just behind the Green Man roundabout but it's still pretty lovely). The pub is busy and vibrant and they have food, a choice of pizza or Thai, random possibly but oh my. I am a Thailaphile, I made that word up, but I like Thailand very much and I've just enjoyed the best green curry I've had outside of Thailand and better than many I've had in Thailand…

Extremely unwelcome. Do not visit if you have children. Despite spending £130 on our bill, we were made to feel (4 times) unequivocally unwelcome. Reminded twice (before 7pm) when children had to leave - we'd seen the email and signs clearly stating this!! No amount of great food or nice beer make up for the freezing, not frosty, service.

Food and pub are great but if you’ve got kids give it a wide berth, you’re not welcome. I’ve seen less rules at a headteachers better education convention.
