About Old Red Lion
Classic mock Tudor pub with large beer garden and a traditional interior filled with dark wood.
This Grade II-listed hostelry was rebuilt by Hoare & Co Brewery in 1933 and designed in the Brewer's Tudor style by renowned inter-war pub architect Sydney C Clark. The two bars are connected by low doorways and a central servery. Original interior features include heavy timbering to the walls and ceiling, the bar counter, glazed panels and fireplace surrounds. The original toilets at the rear have been opened up to provide additional seating in cosy side rooms. The pub has a welcoming atmosphere with an eclectic mix of furniture and oddities. Portobello took over here from Antic in late 2020. A (non real) product from the Herefordshire Cider Co was available in August 2023.

Loved it!! I visited this pub last Monday and had a great time. The Guinness was top notch, and despite only popping in for a quick pint I ended up staying most of the night!! The food is also half price on a Monday. I had the fish and chips which is excellent. 5 STAR

I brought 2 friends from Canada to The Old Red Lion in Kennington, to experience a Sunday Roast Dinner in an authentic London pub! We were cheerily greeted by Neal who recommended a good local ale and patiently answered all our questions on the menu. The food was excellent (Roast Sirloin of Beef, Yorkshire Pud & all the trimmings) and arrived so quickly. The chef also created alternative dessert options and gave me a doggy bag of roasted potatoes to take home. All the staff were friendly and efficient. The pub is traditional, with lots of original features (loved the tiny doorways between the…

A Victorian building that retains many original features. Two bars with a beer garden and several nooks for privacy. Despite being all wooden and having little soft furnishings sounds are well absorbed. So it's easy to have a conversation. The landlord clearly takes pride in the quality of his real ale, which is not overpriced. Food is excellent and half price on Mondays. My dog was welcome too. I love that you are offered a beer mat when you order a drink; too many pubs have sticky tables through lack of beer mats. My only criticism is that there are no hat stands or anywhere else to hang a…

A “Local” that makes you feel like you are in your own living room! A wonderful Tudor-like, dog friendly “watering hole” ie pub! A stone-throw from the Elephant or Kennington Tube and definitely worth a visit. Great, friendly staff! Great choice of drink and food, quiz night Wednesday and a Happy Hour from 4-7pm! What’s not to like?!

Went in for Sunday lunch with friends. It was delicious, the staff were really friendly too. Between us we had the pork, chicken and beef - all great. The sides were great too with plenty of gravy. Definitely going back!
