About Orange

Polished pick with a casual bar, Modern European gastro-grub, and rooms with free Wi-Fi.

May be on the site of the Orange Coffee House which existed in the 18th century, which ceased trading as a coffee house long before it was rebuilt in 1845/6. Now a gastropub in an early Victorian building which became the Orange Brewery in 1982, sadly no longer. Ground-floor bar offering light snacks and wood-fired oven pizzas; first-floor restaurant offers a more substantial menu. And the Blood Orange Bar in the basement is a cocktail bar with its own bar menu and with live music and vinyl DJs. It contains the hireable Vault space.

Four ensuite bedrooms on second floor. Sister pub to the rather grander Alfred Tennyson (ex-Pantechnicon) in Knightsbridge, the Grazing Goat W1, and the Thomas Cubitt SW1. Ale prices reflect the central location.

Note that there is a mid-morning gap in food service after breakfast and before lunch. Note also that alcohol is available from 8.30am but only if ancillary to a meal being consumed. After 10am, no restrictions.

Yesterday I visited The Orange Pub for an early lunch. We were a group of four and seated upstairs. There was no where to hang coats and the dining room was cold. The menu on the website was different from the menu we were given when seated. A couple of the pizzas that were ordered were barely warm. Left underwhelmed and having spent a lot. Very disappointing.

Yesterday afternoon, I visited The Orange Pub for the first time. It had been on my list for a while due to all the great things I’d heard about their food. Unfortunately, the poor service has left me unwilling to return. Our group of six was served by a waitress who, despite not using a notepad to take orders, managed to get one of the drink orders wrong in the first round, though she did apologize for it. When it came to the main course, she still didn't write anything down. Five people at our table received their meals, while I waited around 20 minutes for mine. When the waitress…

Went here for a Birthday lunch. Whilst staff were friendly our pizzas were underwhelming. We sat upstairs which had a nice ambience but a ferocious air conditioning unit. They kindly turned it off when I asked after an hour of turning into an icicle. Desserts were fabulous and it is also very dog friendly.

Went for Sunday lunch with family last weekend. Had heard good things having previously had an average experience, and wanted to give it a second chance, however we all left slightly underwhelmed. Ordered the family style roast for four, but when it came, the chicken was lukewarm, there was only 2 thin slices of beef, and the two slices of pork were mostly fat, and therefore not much meat to eat on it. Not much veg either. Perhaps serving it in a cold skillet does not help keep the food warm. There was however, plenty of roast potatoes which were nice and crisp. Overall it was very average…

I came for a lovely dinner on my own and I had the best time. Service was impeccable. My waiter Balazs (I hope that’s the correct spelling) was fantastic. His recommendations for food and matching wines were spot on. He was great entertainment yet professional and efficient. A big well done to the chefs! The food was super fresh and just delicious! Would highly recommend for both food and a relaxing drink
