About Rising Sun

A Victorian-style lounge bar and heated patio garden have been created in this 1960s suburban home.

Two-room pub rebuilt by Young’s in 1961 to replace its WWII bomb-damaged but patched up predecessor only then, in 1981, to have all its windows shattered by an IRA bomb in an army bus passing by! The front bar was opened out in 1988.

Low ceilinged, part wood-panelled and featuring an attractive fireplace, often used for real fires on winter evenings, the bar is furnished with a mixture of high tables and stools and good-sized dining tables with chairs and upholstered benches. Old prints and mirrors adorn the walls and the wood-topped bar has a panelled front. A dart board is available at the fireplace end of the bar, except when league matches take place. Several TV screens show football matches, occasionally different ones at each end of the room!

The back ‘patio room’, separated from the main room by folding doors, has its own bar, is available for functions.

The food offering is predominantly Indian including Indian fusion burgers.

There were reports in late 2023 of unavailability of cask ale here. Further updates welcome.

They ask for reviews, so here goes. The bar girl has got a bit of an attitude which is not pleasant. The food menu does not match what you pay and its 4 quid for a pint of lemonade. That might be normal here but not where I come from( and I livein a city bigger than this). Encourage me to come back? No chance. That is 14 British pounds of tacos. Eff off!

Fantastic bar that is tucked away in a very central location. Great selection of drinks, service was excellent, and sports were on but not infringing on the overall atmosphere. Lovely to sit outside either at the picnic tables out front or in the back enclosed garden. Loved the little library section inside with comfy seating. Will definitely return again!

Thank you for the good times! I came with friends and we just had some fun time. Abi the (manager) gave us the good recommendations on wines and he really made our night not forgettable 🙏

Wholesome Experience! As someone that gets very anxious navigating London alone, this pub was the perfect pit stop for me to calm down and reset before getting my coach home. The staff were absolutely lovely and made me feel so welcome (which, sadly, seems to be a rare experience these days)! I'm very happy to have found this spot, and I won't hesitate to pop by the next time I travel. Thank you so much!

Love this pub. Come here regularly and this time Ben cooked me a delicious burger as they are now serving food! Very friendly staff and a nice place for a pint in the back 😊
