About Railway Tavern
Large, comfortable pub near Richmond station offering hearty, classic eats, real ales and a patio.
This is a large and busy pub close to Richmond Station. With an interesting and complex layout there are plenty of seats and tables to find in a variety of settings. The majority of tables in the front area are of a butcher-block style with stools. A small raised area can be reached up a few steps. Around the walls – painted dark green - are a variety of pictures depicting famous local sites of interest. At the back is a larger area with a small corner bar and doors to a small side patio.
The pub was known in 1855 as The Railway Hotel and until recently was known as O'Neill's. In Oct/Nov 2014 it was closed for an extensive refurbishment and reopened as a Nicholson's style pub serving a wide range of cask ale from a variety of independent breweries. Their house beer is Nicholson's Pale Ale (4% ABV) brewed by St. Austell. The cask guest beers change frequently. A comprehensive menu of food is available. Membership of the Hop-Circle cask-ale club (see their website for details) can receive exclusive discounts and offers using their smart mobile phone after the free app has been installed and registered. There is also 10% discount using the Nicholson's Cask Ale Club membership card.

This pub has a great location, conveniently situated right next to the train station. The staff were exceptionally friendly. While the "beer garden" is more of a shaded patio area at the back, it's still a nice spot to relax. I only went for drinks, but the food I saw being served looked fairly decent. I recommend this place if you're looking for a quick drink before catching a train.

Very nice pub,clean and friendly. I had a cheese and bacon 🍔, the meat in the Patti was very good quality and I ordered a drink with my meal and got a meal deal which was a good surprise.

The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere really laid back. We had a great lunch and will definitely be back the next time we're in Richmond!

A visit to the Railway Tavern on a wet spring day. All went well! A fine selection of keg beers and ciders along with a generous selection of cask ales. A lovely pub close to Richmond station. It is large with lots of crooks and nannies. A small (wettish) patio garden at the rear. Great service, a good place for a pint in Richmond.

Although have been around Richmond for a long time, only in the last couple of months found The Railway Tavern to be a friendly, welcoming and functional place to visit. Friendly - Everyone who has served me has been polite, chilled and friendly. No issues whatsoever! I'd name some names, but I'm real all are just as great- keep it up guys. Welcoming - Many one off pop in people, but has its few regulars to add to the charm of the place. Atmosphere is great, parts that are quiet and parts that are more lively bar. Functional - I quite often work from home. So being able to grab a booth…
