About Prince of Wales Townhouse
Laid-back pub with refined rooms, a warm bar & a restaurant, plus a terrace & breakfast.
Following an extensive refurbishment of its interior and garden, the pub reopened in 2020 with a new name, incorporating its likely original one, the Prince of Wales, becoming 'his' Townhouse. Presently there are connections with the well-regarded Big Smoke Brewery, with its small chain of pubs in London and South-east England, with the Laine Brewery, continuing from its earlier role, and with Punch. (Both Laine and Punch are ultimately owned by US bank Fortress Investment Group).
The L-shaped bar, along much of the inside wall of the large single room, is equipped with ten handpumps, usually offering a range of up to four cask ales and at least one cider, plus fifteen keg beer lines. Decor is light and airy, whilst seating consists of a mixture of upholstered banquettes and wooden chairs.
Outside, the garden has been enhanced with a number of open-sided huts for four, some comfortable wooden tables and chairs with sunshades and a few of the Big Smoke signature biergarten-style long trestle tables with benches. In winter the area may be protected from the elements with a canvas roof and provided with heaters.
An extensive menu includes pub-grub favourites, sharing platters and more up-market dishes. Normally, breakfast is served from 9am but, under the terms of the licence, alcohol may not be served until 10am and the pub has indicated that alcohol service starts at 11am. There is no food service between 3pm and 5pm.
Various food and drink offers may be seen on the venue website, including a "work from the pub" offer.

Had a roast with my partner and the food was excellent. With the roast you receive an array of vegetables, lashings of gravy and a huge Yorkshire pudding! We have previously been here with my partner's parents and we received a fantastic meal the time before. We were able to book on the morning of which is excellent but for busier days, I'd recommend booking a little more in advance. I had the beef and my partner had the lamb. I have been coming to the pub since it first opened and today got greeted by lovely staff who are incredibly attentive! Thank you to Nick and Kayleigh who made this…

Pub has a great selection of craft beers from London breweries, plus all the big commercial names, on about 20 taps, plus another 6 casks. Staff is super friendly and the soundtrack is British rock and indie rock. if you like sports, they show the football. Why not to love, great beer selection plus football?

Love this place ! Excellent locally brewed gluten free beer ( best I've tasted ), the Nachos were divine ( GF too ), super friendly atmosphere, lovely staff, had a great catch up with friends on a Saturday night. Will be going regularly as I turned up super stressed and left super happy and relaxed!!

Great pub with a nice variety of beers including some Australian ones (stone and wood). Food was tasty. Lots of screens for watching sport. The best thing though is the free darts and shufl! Makes for a great pub visit with friends
