About Prince

Understated neighbourhood spot for modern British fare & a variety of unique ales, porters & ciders.

A handsome two-roomed pub. The local community group succeeded in having it listed as an ACV in November 2015. "Acquired" in 2016 and now open for business under the sound management of the team that had run the Duke's Head in Highgate with quality ale as first priority!

Up to five regularly changing cask ales, seven keg beers, plus a similarly priced range of keg ciders. The beers come from small breweries across the UK and are listed on their website as they change. They are kept up to date as customers can order for take away. In early Feb the range included guests from Two by Two, Vibrant Forest and Burning Sky. In September 2022, they had one cider on handpump from Ascension called Shimmy. They also have one from Turner's in a box on the bar.

They had installed an in-house brewery called the House Brewery but this is no longer operating.

Always a pleasure to go to the Prince. Didn't have the food this time but previously excellent. Not cheap but very tasty. Beers were fairly priced. Under £5 for a pint of Railway Porter is decent. Always very good and chatty bar staff which is a bonus.

A truly excellent meal and exceptional service by the team. We were welcomed immediately on arrival, as walk-in guests for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. As we were sitting down, a chilled jug of water and glasses were already being placed on the table. The staff were so memorably friendly and efficient. The menu was varied, and we opted for the bavette steak which came with the best chips I think we have ever enjoyed - perfectly crispy and fluffy in the middle - as well as the marjoram lamb skewers with a Greek salad. The food was exceptional. Fresh, chunky and beautiful…

Food was extremely high quality even if the portions weren't that big, but still big enough. The staff were great, friendly, diligent and knowledgeable. I was served by a new member of staff and even though she was learning she was extremely helpful, tried hard and was very polite and friendly. Quite a lot of children at the time of visit , which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you are looking for, I quite liked it.

We had an impromptu dinner. As the restraint we booked was closed. The food atmosphere and staff we all great. They we very welcoming and the chef was very accommodating with small menu changes. The food itself was very tasty and well presented. The atmosphere is very relaxed but also welcoming and professional. I would definitely recommend and will be returning. Also as an aside the cocktails are great

Massive range of on tap beer and cider, some quite expensive but good to have choice. Great atmosphere inside and plenty of tables; feels very cosy and intimate without it being squashed or cramped. Having the option of more casual outdoor seating just for a drink is also lovely- being able to borrow a picnic blanket and sit on the green is delightful. I've had better Sunday roasts but other food / desserts I've had here have been wonderful.
