About Red Lion
A fine Victorian building set back slightly from the steep sloped road up Shooters Hill close to its junction with the South Circular. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere complemented by efficient and helpful bar staff. The pub has been refurbished by the Bermondsey Pub Company in Spring 2016 with a new extended kitchen allowing meals to be served. Attractive ancient bar back. 4 handpumps. Now back being run by an independent licensee.

Such tasty food and big portions!!! The waitress was lovely and made our visit very enjoyable. We liked that there was good music playing in the background too. We will definitely be back!!!

This pub is an excellent place to go after a visit to Shooters Hill/Severndroog Castle, if you happen to be in this part of South-East London. A homely interior, with photos on the walls, a welcoming landlady, reasonably priced drinks (including chilled red wine), and excellent home-produced, yet eclectic fare, cooked to order, unlike the repetitive and often bland offerings of many pub chains make it well worth a visit. It is also pet friendly, and even put up with our boisterous canine companion. Wish there were more local pubs like this elsewhere in London.

Fairly standard pub. A really nice garden and BBQ area for hire, which we didn't use, but would be great in the summer. The toilets were a bit grubby and smelly and in need of a deep clean. That fine for a boozer but this put looks to be welcoming families and parties, so it needs to be better. Beware of the way bar snacks are paid for. I ordered drinks and bowls of chips at the bar but was only charged for drinks, which I was unaware of. Then later on got chased to pay my open food tab! I could have easily left thinking I had already paid.

This is a really nice, clean, well kept pub with a very friendly lady behind the bar. However, I decided to have a bar snack with my beer and was served the absolute worst Mexican Tacos anyone could imagine. This is the kind of food that is SO BAD you feel you've been scammed by ordering it. Two very greasy taco shells, were only 1cm thick including their meagre contents. The "chilli" meat sauce did not taste of chilli or anything remotely Mexican. There was only a few shreds of lettuce, and the small amount of meat and lettuce were topped with Thai sweet chilli sauce! Good Mexican Tacos…
