About Royal Albert

Sitting within the Crystal Palace triangle, this is an unchanging, locals' pub (ex-Charrington). It has a single-room bar, which is more spacious than it looks thanks to a rear extension and windows along one side. A range of jugs occupies a shelf above the bar. The patio with seating is at the front, on the road. The TV will show sports and there is occasional live music.

When I speak to people about pubs in Crystal Palace this watering hole never comes up in conversation and I was on my way to another boozer up in Gipsy Hill. As I walked up Westow Hill I glanced across the road and locked eyes on the Royal Albert and I thought to myself; that pub has got qualities that delight the eye so I popped in and treated myself to a pint of timothy Taylor’s brewery. As expected it was friendly locals pub with a couple of screens dotted around for the football and I even had a lovely chat with one of the locals while I enjoyed my pint. Moral of the story don’t be…

Really good, old school pub. No pretence, no nobs, no shoreditch type helmets. A locals pub it seems, subtle art deco styling inside. Hasn't been refurbished in years and all the better for it. Well priced beers too, a few ales on tap and the regular lagers. Went in on a random Tuesday, they had an open mic poetry night on. Actual people speaking, listening and not engrossed in their phones

Smashing proper boozer with the best Guinness in Crystal Palace at an affordable price. Always a welcoming service from Bernie and all the bar staff and you’ll meet some Chatty friendly locals. Long live the Royal Albert!

The last real pub in the triangle. Always a warm welcome and fresh ale in excellent condition. Usually TT + 1 or 2 others..

A lovely classic pub set in the heart of crystal palace. Great service and clean. Nice selection of drinks.
