About Victoria

Plush 19th-century pub with decorated wallpaper and wood panelling, serving pints and comfort food.

Imposing pub with wood-panelled interior and a narrow central section. The pub, with its white painted stucco exterior, dates from 1837/8 and is grade II listed. This is one of Britain's Real Heritage Pubs with ornately gilded mirrors above a crescent-shaped bar, painted tiles in wall niches and numerous portraits of Queen Victoria. The fittings from the mid-Victorian period are now very rare as so many pubs were renovated at the end of the nineteenth century. The multiple outside doors hint at the bar separation that would have been in place in Victorian times.

The walls now display cartoons, paperweights and a Silver Jubilee plate. A recessed area at the back is furnished with a leather bench seat. Upstairs, via a spiral staircase, there is a library and theatre bar available for public use; the fittings were imported from the Gaiety Theatre in the 1950s. A few years later in 1966 David Bowie had a live gig here to launch a record.

The Ladies WC is upstairs. but the Gents is downstairs and, in quiet moments, the rumble of Elizabeth Line trains may be heard in the tunnels beneath as they swing east towards Bond Street.

Tuesday is quiz night. This was Fuller's Pub of the Year in 2007 & 2009, and since 2016 had been five times voted runner-up in the CAMRA West London branch Pub of the Year competition, before finally winning 1st place in 2024. Our photo shows Chris Cochran, manager, receiving the certificate from branch chair Wanda Piontek.

Stopped by on a rainy night - was busy but was able to find a seat for two instantly. Had an overnight layover and decided to explore what we could! Left a great impression on us We had the shepherds pie and fish and chips along with a recommended beer (one they use in the fish batter, wish I remembered the name of it!!); all of it was wonderful, definitely had a good experience along with very friendly service despite it being a full house. Definitely recommend!

This was my second time visiting London, but my first time doing a Sunday Roast, and it was wonderful!! The Victoria's ambiance is so beautiful and cozy, especially decorated for Christmas. We made a reservation in advance and sat in the upstairs "Library Room". One of our guests is celiac and the waitress was incredibly helpful in suggesting Gluten Free options - he ultimately got the Beef Sunday Roast, just without a couple of ingredients.

Our second attempt at Sunday Roast at this classic bar in London, having looked around for a place around Paddington and Hyde Park to dine in ☺️ ⏰ came by without a reservation around 12, and was glad to see there’s plenty of seats on the ground level - the first floor is for folks either reservation, and it’s significantly busier as compared to the peace we had on the ground level. We were asked to sit anywhere we wanted on the ground level, and to send our order at the counter when we are ready - which works for us since we wanted to split the bill. Food were served rather promptly, both…

This is a traditional pub just a short walk from Paddington station. It has wood panelling that gives it a somewhat intimate feel. It is not large but they do have additional seating upstairs and outside. Being a Fuller's pub they had a good selection of 6 cask beers, I chose the London Pride at £5.75. I was here at 4.30pm on a Tuesday and it was busy with a mix of tourists and locals. They do hold regular quiz nights. The toilets are in the basement accessed by a steep staircase, beware of the low ceiling when descending as I did bump my head.

Our dinner at The Victoria was superb! Absolutely lovely atmosphere, quiet room upstairs (we ate in the library), delicious food. The service was great. For a quick 4 day trip to London we googled where to have a Sunday roast in Paddington. Everyone suggested here and it’s clear why! My husband had the roast beef, I had the vegetarian Wellington. Both were fantastic! Good selection of wines & non-alcohol beers. If ever we’re back in London we will definitely pop in for dinner & a pint!
