About Stag
High-ceilinged gastropub dating from 1874, with bare brick walls and private cabanas in the garden.
This roomy Victorian pub (ca. 1874) was a reliable back street boozer. In 2008, new owners (two brothers who started with the Regent in Kensal Green) painted the entire vast Victorian frontage black, pared down the interior to minimalist, with wooden tables and chairs, punctuated by candlelight, and re-vamped the huge garden behind with bookable cabanas, summer BBQs and events such as acoustic music.
Up to 24 keg beers are on tap with many from London such as Beavertown, Five Points and Kernel. Four handpumps at the centre of the bar dispense cask beer and cider. Large blackboard right on entry displays the full menu from snacks to full meals, with the downstairs devoted to food. Extensive bottled beer menu.
The same operator also runs The Mall in Notting Hill and the Beer & Burger chain. Payment by card only.

One of the best roasts we’ve had in London. Alex , Josh and the team are fantastic and the atmosphere is lovely. Very happy staff and a well run pub. The new chef has worked wonders with the kitchen.

What a beautiful venue, food, staff and service. It was my very first visit and the way I been treated will be my continue visiting place. An eye catching building standing at the corner of the road and black paint colour is getting your attention. Drinks they're serving are awesome. Wine to sparking, beer from the best breweries in cask and keg in different varieties. Food was delicious as I tasted couliflower wings. Must book your table otherwise it will be hard to have seat btw they have very nice beer garden at back. Serve was noticeably great and staff was friendly & helpful to make…

Beautiful pub with a beautiful beer garden. The burger was so great but the compulsory tip when you order outside is wild. £7.70 is steep for a pint and when you consider the area it’s fine. But the compulsory tip of £0.96 per drink is WILD? I went back and forth on the app to see if I can take it off but I couldn’t. Also coming from someone who also works in management within hospitality: the replies by management on any comments less than perfect are super unprofessional. We’re allowed to give our feedback and it’s off putting to do so when owners of an establishment are super defensive…

One of the better pubs in the Hampstead area. It’s a perfect place during the summer as it has a large outdoor seating area equipped with heaters and shelter. The food is tasty but some of the side portions were particularly small. Their selection of beer is the main attraction. They are also dog friendly but this is expected if you are in Hampstead. Music was good as well. If you are looking to host a party in Hampstead this venue is the one.

This place is great! Love the big bar front, lots of choices of drinks and beer, my Stag burger was yummy, the service was excellent! Definitely going back again!
