About Station House

A Southern Italian-inspired menu and large, terraced garden are the main draws of this local pub.

Originally the station booking hall, the upstairs is known as the Red Room and houses the open kitchen and bar and is available between 7pm and 11pm (Noon-9pm on Sundays). It can also be hired for private functions and has a large vaulted roof and arched windows. The pub specialises in Southern Italian tapas & artisan pizzas, although a big burger range is also available. The kitchen is open late till 10.30pm (10pm on Sundays). The outside terrace can become busy, especially when the bar is playing amplified music. The building is locally listed.

I have been a loyal customer at this place for years, and it never disappoints! The staff is always welcoming and attentive, food is fresh and delicious. Some of the staff like Kevin, Marza are always making you feel special and right at home. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves good vibes.

I used to frequent gastro pub years ago then my friends moved away and we stopped. A few days we met there again and I was happy to see how they’ve changed the decor. It is food friendly and dog friendly. The staff are laid back and not pushy - which is alarming at first. They left us alone to eat and catch up and I loved that more than anything. I had the truffle risotto - which I always order whenever it’s on a menu! Only downside wasn’t enthralled with the house red wine.

I have been there for a quick lunch. Upstairs is very nice and decided to go there to enjoy the food. Unfortunately the music was so loud that I had to give up and go downstairs. The waiter was thoughtful and understanding and apologised without any special treats anyways. Food is great though and happy to confirm my experience with that a year ago.

Table service only which takes ages, service charge added automatically - you have to ask to get it taken off, making them take even longer to bring the bill. Fine place overall with a good beer garden but the service makes it 1/5! Not such a happy place as it seems unfortunately!!!

Whilst the food is okay, they have ruined the atmosphere by keeping the covid table service, takes ages to get a pint while you wait for the staff to come. And then they add 12.5% service charge on whilst you wait in misery for an average pint. Shame because the garden and the venue are really nice but it’s a real waste and as a local i’d rather frequent the other pubs in the area who offer normal and friendly bar service.
