About Sun of Camberwell
Hip pub with old-meets-new decor, open fire and quirky garden, serving British food and craft beers.
Previously the Sun & Doves. Ex-Courage, now leased from Star Pubs & Bars by Antic. Previous tenants (1995 to 2011) went out of business following a long-running dispute, founding the "fair pint" campaign along the way. Reopened in November 2012 by Antic and renamed. Nice contemporary pub appealing to local professionals and medical staff from the hospital. Large bare-boarded floorspace generally furnished with rustic kitchen style chairs and tables. An area to the right rear has a raised area for diners. 2 vinyl decks play music. Transferred from Antic to Urban Pubs & Bars in summer 2024.

One of our favorite pubs in Camberwell. The staff is super super nice and the Sunday roast is very good. We also celebrated here my sister's baby shower and it was very nice.

Good pub, nice garden, fairly pricey. Problem is with the food - tiny portions for the price. £16 for a chicken schnitzel and a meagre side salad. See pics.

Rolling through Camberwell late on a Sunday looking for a satisfying bit to eat after hanging out with friends.... Didn't expect the service at 7:30 on a Sunday...great atmosphere...the roast beef was tender juicy ... roast potatoes perfectly portioned and butter cabbage w/ roast beetroot and that jus a whole jug of it. Staff are great. Thanks guys will return for a roast definitely 😎

Very nice relaxing spot for Sunday roast. Loved all of the veggie sides that came with the roast and the pudding was also very nice. Overall good vibe and very friendly service. Would definitely recommend.

I’ve been coming to this pub for years, seen it through a few changes of hand. I love it here, there’s a great beer garden and it’s usually a good time with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Last night however, my companion and I paid nearly £70 for dinner two mains some wine and a single pudding. The food was so poor it has made me ill. The steak (£18) was practically inedible, chewy, tough, tasteless “it could have been fox” is what my companion said. The salad it came with looked like scraps from the bottom of a bag. The gnocchi was gloopy cold and not ideal. Pudding was excellent…
