About Tap On The Line

Airy station pub with tiled walls, terrace and atrium dining area, for real ales and British food.

The Railway was acquired by Fuller's in 2012. Re-opened 27th Sept 2013 after a major refurbishment and name change. The pub is located right on the tube line's eastbound platform, although you can't access it from the platform. The yellow brick building forms part of the original station complex, which was built in the 1860’s and was originally the station's Timber Steaming Hall, then later; it became the Station's buffet room before it was finally converted into a pub. It's an attractive old building with oak beamed ceilings which are around 25 feet high. The main features include a huge arched ornate conservatory atrium (now used as a dining area) and floor-to-ceiling picture windows looking directly onto the platform of the station. There is an outside seating area at the front.

I visited this pub on a busy Sunday in March 2024 for lunch as part of a large group. This pub had exceptionally good service and even accommodated the cutting of our birthday cake. The food arrived quite quickly and was tasty. There are plenty of vegetarian options to try and potentially a number of dishes can accommodate vegans but I suggest you warn the staff in advance of your dietary restrictions. The pub advised us that the fish and chips fish had run out however I was not surprised as it was a busy day. I strongly suggest also that you book in advance as this will help the pub…

Good Spot for a Stop. This place is super conveniently located if you are in Kew or visiting the gardens. It’s also one of the only pubs with a direct view to the local train station. We had the chicken and the burger. Both portions were decent and the food was tasty. The real draw of this place however is the atmosphere. It’s a beautiful little pub located in a special little nook in Kew. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Went to Kew Gardens, London's hidden gem! London's only Tap on a tube platform, has 2 access but most accessible to all. Highly recommend, include it you your itinerary when travelling down at Kews. Maybe even a dinner after a visit from the Botanical Gardens! I'll be back, Tap on the Line!

Jack was a great server. Excellent chicken roast in a scenic venue. Right next to Kew gardens station

£12 for a Tesco quality sandwich and chips? The chips were nice but the sandwich was supermarket bread with a runny filling that claimed to be hot smoked salmon and cream cheese. No salad, no garnish, no attempt at presentation. Service was pleasant and it’s an attractive venue but… won’t go back. Wine was expensive too. Since posting this review, the manager invited us back for a complimentary lunch. They had taken note of the comments, made changes and taken the disappointing sandwiches off the menu. We had a very nice lunch with lovely service and it was great to see how swiftly and…
