About Town Of Ramsgate

Ship-like riverside pub where James II's notorious Hanging Judge was captured in the 17th century.

Historic pub in the old docklands among warehouses that have been converted into luxury flats. It took its name from the fishermen of Ramsgate who would land their catch at nearby Wapping Old Stairs to avoid river taxes at Billingsgate. An Enterprise tenancy, it is popular with locals and with passing walkers and tour groups. The traditional bar is long and narrow, and there is a beer garden by the river. Home-cooked traditional English food is served all day. Children and dogs are welcome. A very popular quiz is held on Monday nights. Card payments only.

Nice pub for a late afternoon drink. Small but good. Plenty of History e.g. Hanging Judge Jeffries if that doesn't show hugely here. Really liked the small beer garden facing onto the water; great feature. Had recently eaten, so can't comment on the food.

This 16th century pub is a real delight. It is in a great location overlooking the river and has a beer garden with great views. Being a hot day I sat inside and ordered a reasonably priced Amstel (£6). They have 4 cask beers and a good selection of spirits. The bar service was excellent. The interior is long and narrow and has plenty of seating. They do serve food. I only had time for one beer but will definitely be returning.

A super little place in the heart of Wapping. The Town of Ramsgate is a great place for a beer and a spot of lunch if you are hungry (Especially on a Sunday when they get the carvery going!). A fine selection of both cask and keg beers is available along with some witty repartee from the friendly staff. An excellent place to visit and quench your thirst.

The Town of Ramsgate is a cosy community pub. I had the pleasure of visiting upon the invitation of some friends for the Monday night quiz. The quiz (8pm til around 10pm) was well-run, featured a host of regulars (so I’m told) and there were pens and desk lamps provided, as well as the added bonus of freshly made chips during the interval, which was a nice touch. In terms of food , although I did not partake, it looked to be solid pub grub in decent portions. Drinks wise there were a variety of ales with an emphasis on cask (eg. Young’s, Doom bar, Harvey’s). For those wanting a clear head…

Nice old pub with lots of history, very friendly and plenty of drink options. I'd definitely recommend it, and I hope to visit again so I can sit outside by the river
