About Waggon & Horses

Flagstone floors, white paneling, opulent wallpaper and a Eucalyptus tree on a terrace with booths.

Pub built in 1888 on site of Stuart coaching inn, so called because here in olden times extra horses could be hired to help pull wagons up Surbiton Hill. Largely opened out but retaining two bars to give a traditional feel, there is also a separated off function room. A balustraded raised section to the rear completes the interior. There is a large back yard with many tables and chairs plus some booths. Extensive menu offered including a wide range of pizzas and burgers. Families are welcome throughout. Quiz night on Mondays.

We reserved an area for a party at the waggon & horses, and would highly recommend the pub. Communication was great when booking and the team answered all my questions I had quickly. The space was perfect for hosting, and the pub had a good vibe all evening. The staff were super helpful, bringing cocktails to our area, clearing glasses and bringing out our pre-ordered food at the agreed times, meaning we didn’t have to think about anything and could enjoy the night. Thanks waggon and horses team!

I have been coming to the Waggon since I was a baby (yes, my dad has been drinking here for 34+ years). I even worked here 16 years ago. So I remember this place as a child, teenager, young adult and grumpy old man. The service at the bar is always fast, and the current bunch of bar staff are a great bunch. I haven't had food here in at least 8 years so I can't comment. The pub quiz is balanced, and very competitive. There is darts, and a big garden around back. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars on atmosphere, I never got over how they gutted the bar, and the changes made to the…

Amazing pub in Surbiton! We hosted some group drinks and were super accommodating with our size and booking requirements. Would 100% recommend!

Lovely staff, started with great service that was really let down by the length of time it took to deliver the food... which was let down further by a very average roast... over cooked beef, soggy roast potatoes and veg and a portion of greens that was served cold in a separate dish. Shame because initial impressions were good... a decent sized lunch. The ribs and the pizza were tasty, looked good and the kids enjoyed them... the delay was supplemented by a round of drinks. So not all bad... Next time it’ll be burger or pizza or ribs for me

One of those unsuspecting boozers that really impressed me on first visit, and has remained a favourite when pub crawling, a quiet beer or can't decide where to go. Spacious, multiple rooms, mismatched furniture, dart board, huge garden and tables out front to embrace the sun-trap in the summer evenings while inhaling the Surrey SUV fumes, make this a pub that will surely tick many people's boxes. Food is pub grub but a focus on pizzas and "best burgers in town", although I've not tried them. Bold claim that needs to be tested, however Surbiton has a distinct lack of burger joints! Next…
