This used to be our local go to for fish and chips and a good pint. However, since the menu has changed, it has become disappointing. Whilst the chips are better, everything else is worse. The tartar sauce now has onions which will linger on your breath for hours. The fish itself, as well as the batter, has decreased in both quality and taste. We will now only return for pints. Food is a write off. Great place to get Aspalls on tap otherwise.

Went for a Saturday lunch. They didn't have our first three choices from the mains list (and there are only 5/6 options). The fish was sooooo greasy and basically a big piece of batter with a small amount of white fish inside. V v poor. The mushy peas were also not to my taste and the tartar sauce didn't taste great. Thankfully the chips were good as they propped up the entire meal. The burger didn't feel like £16's worth of burger. Flimsy patty inside a soggy bun. If only they were as generous with the meat as they were with the lettuce. Chips were OK but felt a bit greasy! At £40 for the…

Went here from some lunch on bank holiday. Friendly bar staff, nice selection of craft beers in tap, and the menu for food looked good. Unfortunately we were told half of the things weren't available on the menu (1pm) and then after ordering what was available, all 7 of us ended up getting our meals sporadically over the course of 45min which was ashame and the food was pretty below standard for the price.

I visited on a Monday evening: a nice, quiet place which also serves food. There is a large outside area in front of the pub near the main road. The interior is nothing special, but ok with a range of comfortable padded seats and wooden chairs and tables. The workers were welcoming, polite and efficient. Prices of alcohol were in line with most places in this area, with notable the exception of The George, Wetherspoons and few doors away. Recommended as a haven of relative calm and peace. I re-visited a week later on a Thursday: no WiFi and £8.50 for a large glass of house red🧐🙁

New kitchen caterer. Completely overpriced food! £5 for a small cup of cheap processed fries. £15 for 'loaded nachos' - a bed of plain tortilla chips with some toppings. And £27 for pinot grigio blush. Provided feedback to the manager but there was nothing he could do about the kitchen. Won't be back.
