About Fox & Grapes

Airy pub with minimalist rooms featuring Wi-Fi & breakfast, plus seasonal, modern British food.

Now a boutique hotel offering three en-suite rooms and a full menu in the bar downstairs, this welcoming pub on the edge of Wimbledon Common was removed from CAMRA's London Regional Inventory in 2014 following an unsympathetic renovation. Fixtures and fittings had been mainly early 20th century and include pretty stained-glass windows and wood panelling. Also note the brass finger plates on the entrance doors. Food served 12-3pm, 6-9.30pm; Sat 12-9:30pm; Sun 12-8.30pm Bus route 93 a five minute walk away. Popular with dog walkers.

It is well off the beaten track but that’s not a bad thing. Service marked down a bit mostly for the lack of attention when you turn up. Nobody seems to be in charge. This is not the first time here and we felt ignored when waiting to be seated. Clearly popular as Sunday roasts definitely need advance booking.

We had a wonderful meal at the Fox & Grapes. Every course was delicious, the service was excellent. The chef has put a lot of thought into creating a menu offering something for everyone. We really enjoyed the seasonal use of asparagus. Our particular highlight from the restaurant was the pea and shallot tortellini. For dessert the warm chocolate cake dessert is perfect.

Stopped by for a quick pint, lovely interiors, well decorated and clean. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. There are seats outside surrounded by flowers and plants, perfect for a sunny day!

I live locally and it was my first time here. So far, it the best pub in Wimbledon that I’ve been to. One of the few independent pubs and I must say it makes a huge difference. The quality of the food was excellent and I had a great experience.

Good service and great rooms, it had a homely feel and really felt like a pub. Location was somewhat obscure but there are bus routes available near by.
