About Hare & Hounds
Gastroub with a vintage, library-style interior including leather chairs, real and fake books.
A large buff brick, three-storeyed Grade II listed former Georgian coaching inn and East Sheen's landmark pub since 1776. It has since been substantially modified over the years and includes a thorough reworking of the interior in the 1930s. The wood-panelled lounge bar on the right-hand side is quite spacious and leads to a dedicated restaurant area.
What was originally a small public bar entered by a side door from the 'carriage entrance' has been opened out to the main pub and called the 'Snug Bar'. The large part tented garden served by its own bar during the summer months has been substantially developed recently and includes several huts. A garden kitchen is also planned.

Very rudely greeted by the bar staff (grumpy old man) at 7pm today (Friday). I was told I couldn’t eat if I had a child with me. Meanwhile there were many families seated. I’ve been to this place a few times with my children and enjoyed the food but will never go again after the poor treatment. There are other establishments with good food and better customer service in the area. No need to go back.

Always a pleasure to be at the Hare & Hound, buzzing any time of the year with good vibes. Watching the margarita being properly made added to the tasting experience. Dogs are welcome and very calm. Pub dogs?! :-) Dynamic fall program with original fancy dress charity sale. Friendly team eager to help and serve.

I won a competition on Instagram and claimed my three course dinner last night. It was amazing from the start until the end! Staff members were all cheerful, smiley, friendly, attentive...they made the experience perfect. And the food!!! Definitely coming back for the lentil and chestnut soup, out of this world! Three amazing courses, beautiful glass of wine with the best ambiance...thank you Hare & Hounds for an amazing night! See you soon!

Well I don’t really know what to say. The hare and hounds in East Sheen has always been close to my heart, but since they had their beautiful make over I really struggle to find equally great pubs in the Richmond area. We were there last Sunday with my German family and the roast…. The ROAST… yeh go and see yourself! Oh and the sticky toffee pud!! Delightful! Absolutely stunning! The staff is just the nicest, loveliest and best! Elena and all the others are just wonderful ! Thank you for making every stay to memorable!!

I’ve been coming here for the first time during summer as a regular as I’ve had a lot of domestic repairs going on in my place. I have loved the garden nooks and crannies and inside quieter spots. What I am pleasantly surprised about is the feel of Home from home. The staff deserve a special mention as they are particularly kind and helpful, always taking a minute to chat, which takes me out of my cluttered headspace into the work that I have to get done.
