About Lamb Tavern
Pub and dining room on 3 floors where drinkers can spill outside into covered Leadenhall Market.
There was a 14th century noble's house here with (unusual for the time) a lead roof, hence Leadenhall. Rebuilt as a market after the fire in 1666. The wrought-iron market you see today was as rebuilt again in 1881, modelled on the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle in Milano. The present pub dates from 1780 and was rebuilt with the rest in 1881. Ex-Bass Charrington, then a free house, until Young's bought it in 1985. Grade II* Listed building, like the rest of the market, in maroon and off-white with columns, gilt trims, frosted windows and the Corporation of London shield. Ceramic tiled mural by the entrance featuring Wren looking at the plans for the Monument. On four levels: the ground floor is quite small and standing-only; a small gallery added in the mid-1980s; a top floor for lunches; and a basement bar called Old Tom's (with the same real ales but a slightly more eclectic range of lagers, e.g. Camden, Meantime, Urquell). The ground floor has dark wood panelling,! engraved glass, marble columns, wrought iron spiral staircase to gallery, standing room. On the top floor are lots of pictures including portraits of 19th century Young & Co directors. Old Tom's bar in the basement, opened in 2011, is accessed from a separate door, with original cream & green glazed tiling (dating from when this was the toilets!).

Special hidden treasure restaurant with traditional British food. Exactly what we were looking for. It’s upstairs in a cool pub. Great service and quality food. Our server was Ash and he was excellent. Historic vibes with lots of interesting history on the walls. We were so pleased with everything. Go find it!

This is a super cool pub to sit, have a beer, and enjoy the atmosphere of a pub from the 1700s. Not only that, but the surrounding market is also really charming, with plenty of spots to take pictures and just wander around. I highly recommend going during the week, especially around lunchtime, because that’s when everything feels alive. I’ve been there on weekends, and it’s much quieter with most things closed, so weekdays are definitely the best if you want to experience the city at its liveliest.

This was a surprising treat for a late breakfast. We stumbled upon this on an early morning Monday in which it wasn't busy. We got a table with a great view of the frontage below. The server was very friendly and gave recommendations. The had an English breakfast which was quite delicious. I recommend having breakfast at this restaurant if you happen to be in the area.

My first time visiting the lamb tavern and what a wonderful experience! Many of my friends & colleagues have spoken fondly of it, being a nice busy spot to grab a pint after work. Although I didn’t join after work drinks, I decided to work from the pub in the upstairs area. The room was spacious and traditionally decorated, everyone who served me was delightful and friendly, and despite it being a meat heavy menu, honestly the best vegan pudding I’ve had in a Youngs pub! Yum! The vegan gnocchi was also very tasty. If I’m in the area, I will definitely pop in by myself or with friends, a great…

Loved our food and and a great location. Especially for Harry Potter fans. Ash is the best server, super nice and knows a ton about the area. Would love to come back again. We had a burger, which was amazing and a fantastic scotch egg. Great selection of beer.
