About Partridge

Victorian-style, traditional pub with chandeliers and a beer garden, for ales and handmade pies.

Grade II-listed former NatWest bank which was converted by Fuller's in 1995 into a spacious pub retaining many original features including the high ceilings and chandeliers. The hall like interior has a long bar with impressive ornate wooden shelving behind. The décor has dark blue walls with dark wooden panelling and framed prints as well as bare wooden flooring with several high tables and stools along with larger tables by the windows. A snug room leads off from the main hall and can be reserved for functions. At the back of the hall, a smaller room leads off with tables and which is more geared up for dining. A small back patio is under the trees with a view of the local church.

Owned by Fuller's but tenant operated, this has an extensive range of cask ales from the Fuller's stable plus a couple of guest ales. A board behind the bar informs which guest ales are due.

An upmarket food menu is offered, including vegetarian choices.

Located by the Market Square, the pub is popular with shoppers and theatregoers for the nearby Churchill Theatre, as well as those drawn by its live music on Saturday evenings.

Came for a Sunday roast, but was refused alcohol because I didn’t have a physical ID with me. Last I checked, legal age to drink in UK is 18 and yes, I maybe asian but I just find it super ridiculous they don’t think I am (clearly) over 18, and very very inflexible that they don’t accept pictures of passport even. Understood there is a regulation when it comes to that but also couldn’t help but think the treatment I received was purely discriminatory, it certainly didn’t make me feel good. Good thing is they are pet-friendly but thats just that. Will not recommend.

We have been a couple of times now for Sunday Lunch and it is delicious. If I had to pick a fault it would be not enough gravy. But can highly recommend Service is friendly and the Malbec is spot on

This pub is absolutely lovely, there is a nice atmosphere! Especially with the Christmas decorations which give the place a magic touch! Staff also friendly even is a little bit cold. The manager looked bothered for some reason. Regarding the food, my burger didn’t worth the price, very bad quality beef…fortunately the chips were delicious. Prices are quite high. Next time I’ll try a home made pie which seems to be their speciality. Generally speaking nice place 👍🏻

The pub is quite small and not a huge capacity in terms of seats. The pub seemed quiet yet there were still no tables free. Let's of people sitting alone or in pairs. Old fashioned decor but if you like that kind of thing you'll probably love it. Clean toilets. Always a plus.

Excellent pub. Nice and quiet on Saturday lunchtime when we went. Outdoor seating with very large parasol. Fair amount of choice of drink and nice food menu. The club sandwich was excellent 👌🏻
